We’re pleased to be supporting the Children’s Book Project with a pre-loved children’s book drive across all Chapman Opticians practices.

From Monday 23rd February to Saturday 7th March, we’ll be collecting quality children’s books to help get more books into the hands of children who need them most, just in time for World Book Day!

As opticians, this initiative is especially close to our hearts. Good eye health plays a vital role in a child’s ability to read, learn and thrive, and we’re proud to support a project that helps children develop a lifelong love of reading.

The Children’s Book Project already works with schools and communities in Cheltenham, Kidderminster and Wednesbury, making this a meaningful way for us and our patients to give back locally.

February is Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Awareness Month. AMD is an eye condition that affects your central vision. It’s one of the most common causes of sight loss in the UK.

AMD causes changes to the macula, which leads to problems with your central, detailed vision. AMD doesn’t cause pain and doesn’t lead to the total loss of sight.

AMD affects the vision you use when you’re looking straight at something, for example when you’re reading, looking at photos or watching television.

Your central vision can become distorted or blurry, and over time, a dark or missing area may appear in the centre of your vision.
