Community Hub Update: Evolving to Serve Everyone, Everywhere
For over seven years, our South Staffs Water Community Hub has been a place of connection, support, and care - particularly for residents in and around Wednesbury. We are incredibly proud of the impact it has had and deeply grateful to everyone who helped make it a trusted and welcoming space.
We recently updated our Vulnerable Customer Strategy, to guide how we evolve our services to meet the changing needs of those who rely on us most. Rather than focusing support in one location, we are looking at ways to extend our services right across our region through home visits, digital tools and targeted outreach. This will allow us to reach more people, more effectively.
Following a careful review, we have taken the difficult decision to close our Community Hub later this year. While we are proud of the positive difference the Hub has made – particularly in its early years – usage has significantly declined in recent times. To ensure our investment delivers the greatest benefit across all our communities, we need to focus on more responsive, region-wide support.
Moving forward, our mobile Community Engagement Officers will take support directly into the heart of our communities – delivering tailored advice and assistance without the limitations of a single, static location. We remain fully committed to supporting those who need us most, and we believe this new approach will allow us to do that more effectively, right across our region.
Thank you to our staff, volunteers, and community members who have made the Hub a place of connection. Your compassion and commitment continue to inspire how we move forward.

The hub will close its doors on Friday 31st October 2025.
