This last couple of weeks have been chaotic. Our residents have been working so hard preparing everything for Pirate day next week, as well as playing in this year's Wimbledon tournament!
This year has been brilliant yet again, but also with a touch of sadness as all the staff who walked past our champions board have commented on our late undefeated champion, Jean. She won and retained the crown without ever tasting defeat. Everyone has said how much they would like to see her name on the board once more, and for me personally, I will certainly miss seeing her hold what seemed to become "her" trophy. She was a true champion in every sense and will always be remembered each year at this tournament.
This year has once again seen some brilliant matches and some incredible rallies, one of which went over 30 before losing count! As always, both players always decide to congratulate each other with a handshake, showing the sportsmanship that flows through this tournament. At the end of the week we played the semi finals, Mel Vs Patricia and Dianne Vs Bernie. Both were so close, but after a hard fought afternoon we have our finalists.
