Laura Barritt Counselling

Laura Barritt Counselling I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor in Wellingborough offering face to face counselling Does leaving the house some days feel overwhelming at times?

Would more than a handful of hours sleep a night feel amazing without the buzz of your ,mind going round and round. Sometimes struggling with feelings of anxiety or lack of self esteem can really impact our day to day life. I recall that feeling well, wanting nothing more than to pull the duvet up over myself and let the day pass me by because it all felt too much. I knew it was 'normal' to feel s

ome anxiety occasionally (who hasn't experienced a small tummy turn of worry or a twinge in their chests at times?) BUT.....if your emotions become bigger than you......maybe it's time to look at why? Understanding what is going on for us is the key to beginning to start to feel better. I can help work with you to explore what is making you feel out of sorts, low or sad. Talking to a counsellor like myself can help to begin to unravel where these unsettling feelings came from, why are they there and how can they be processed. The bumps in our journey, the dips in our mountain range or the deep pit we might find ourselves sitting in, can turn into feelings of confusion and loneliness (among a whole array of other emotions!)

As a Person Centred Counsellor, I will gently question, challenge you and reflect your words back to you as I sit alongside you while you start unwrapping your emotions.

I haven't posted on this page for some while πŸ™πŸ»

I use this and Instagram for business and I will be honest and say my inclination to post has dwindled a little.

I am ok! More than ok! I just haven't been in the mood for social media as such.

So I am reflecting on that a bit today. My clients generally find me via Counselling Directory or Google searches, so I think while I wasn't feeling it... I felt I didn't NEED to post πŸ˜•

But I feel different today. So my reflections on this are:

β–  It is not selfish to take a break from something.πŸ˜‡
β–  It can be healthy to take a break from something! πŸ’ͺ🏻
β–  We make no apology for our own needs πŸ€—
β–  We can always reconnect 🀩

If there is something you haven't done in a while, such as read, contact a particular friend, get to the gym or follow up on a promise to yourself... maybe it might help to reflect on why that is?

On 8th May, we’re welcoming a small team from the NHS, Macmillan, and Cransley Hospice to our Pink Community Shed as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week (5–11 May). They’ll be here to gently open up conversations around end-of-life planning, what matters, what support is out there, and how to talk about it. Everyone’s welcome to drop in and chat πŸ’¬πŸ€

I have a reasonable amount of availability coming up so thought it was worth sharing here; including a 5.30pm slot (these are extremely rare these days).

My initial assessment is always free of charge, so we can meet each other and establish if I would be the right therapist for you.

A little post gym cup of tea and a recharge using this glorious sunshine 🌞

We cannot eliminate the stress that may float our way today, but we can make a choice in how we handle it. And.... for now, as the mug indicates, nothing matters other than the tea and sunshine on my face for these few minutes. 😌

May the absence of stress be present, at least for moments for everyone today 🫢🏻

Growth can be hard to spot within ourselves sometimes, as it can show up in small, steady and gradual ways.
I wonder if some of these signs may resonate as an indication that growth really is happening?

Appreciate some of these may not apply (not much beachball opportunities around my way😁) however some of them are easily doable and I feel could fill up some of our emotional cups quite nicely 🌻🌞

Well we made it past January πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻

I say it like that as I know many people find it long for various reasons... (cold/money/dark etc) I personally quite enjoy January. I find it quite a reflective month for me. Time to contemplate and make some decisions/plans.

But February is now here. Supposedly the month of love. Self Love is where it's at! ❀️ It starts with you.

In my image I have worded it all using "allowed". Stating that "you are allowed" to feel this way and that way. Giving you permission. But.... it's not me that gives you permission. IT'S YOU!! πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ’•

Try reframing the statements and making them yours...

✨️ I am allowed to slow down
✨️ I am allowed to put myself first
✨️ I am allowed to simply be and not be 'doing'

Or any of your own.....

Self love. Prioritise your needs.

I know when we are really struggling (and I mean REALLY struggling) and getting out of bed seems a huge challenge we need to start small. Small steps towards some clarity.

I saw this today and had to share it as maybe doing just one simple thing from this list could help someone even a tiny bit today.

Hands up if you're ready for some more light! πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ (well sun ideally β˜€οΈ.... but let's start small)

I knew we were getting close, I could feel it and see the small gradual changes, but I loved this image to represent that some of the darkest times of this season are behind us. πŸ€—

It is scientifically proven that daylight and in particular sunlight improves mood.

So if you are struggling with low mood, depression, lethargy and lack of motivation, open the front door and step outside for a few minutes, longer if you can. Get those blinds and curtain open and let the light on you. It may help just a couple of %, but then it may do that tomorrow aswell... embrace the longer days πŸŒ„

I have recently come across this fantastic project being developed to support children and their families following bereavement. They are in the very early stages and would really appreciate spreading the word a little more.

If anyone is happy to share I think the guys here would really value it. Or give them a follow 🫢🏻
