Of course the Town council haven’t considered accessibility for the social media posts for the Waendal Walk. Calling them out will have them accusing of slandering them despite evidence of their legislation breaches.

A vintage bus shuttle between town and t e embankment. Another public event with organisers (WTC) who did claim to have a “commitment to disability”.

This means part of the Wellingborough beach event is a non inclusive event where disabled people cannot participate along with their non disabled peers.

Creating accessible social media content not only allows content shared to be inclusive to all, but also makes the organisation look more professional. So many organisations locally fail to consider accessibility on their social media platforms.

Being accessible on social media includes not sharing full links, writing hashtags in CamelCase, applying alt text and image descriptions, using complimentary colours for text/flyer backgrounds and limiting emoji use.

Apparently these posts are accessible, they are if you don’t rely on a screen reader to use social media.

The town council pass on the social media duties for the event, to a third party, to avoid themselves the accountability. All councils should have a higher standard when it comes to equality and accessibility.
