Something we don't talk about enough in professional training: not everyone passes first time – and that is completely fine. 💙

NPORS or CPCS – which is right for you? 🤔

It's one of the most common questions we get asked about plant training, and the answer depends on your role, your employer's requirements and how you prefer to be assessed.

Here's a quick summary:

🔵 NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme)
• Flexible – testing can take place on your own site with your own equipment
• Recognised by Build UK and the HSE
• Traditional Card valid for 3 or 5 years
• NPORS CSCS Card also available (Red & Blue card routes)
• Operates across construction, utilities, warehousing, agricultural & more

🔴 CPCS
• Testing must take place at an accredited CPCS testing site
• Widely recognised across major construction sites
• Red Trained Operator Card valid for 2 years; Blue Competent Operator Card valid for 5 years

Both are credible, industry-recognised routes to plant operator certification. The best option really depends on your specific circumstances.
