New Arrivals at the Care Farm! 🐌

We’re excited to introduce our four African land snails who have just joined the Care Farm family.

Two of our little ones have names already (Gary & Turbo)… but the other two are still waiting for theirs. We’d love your help. Share your name ideas and get involved in welcoming them. 👇

These tiny babies will one day grow to the size of a hand, so keep an eye on this space for updates as they settle in and grow.

A huge thank‑you to Thrift Farm Nursery for gifting us all four snails. We’re looking forward to future collaboration with the wonderful team at Thrift Farm Nursery and Pre-school.

We have recently had lots of interest in our goat walking experience, with many local groups and families attending. One group attended on New Years Eve for their experience, George noting this was the best New Year he has ever had and that they should do it every year. We also had another special visit for Brooke's birthday, who loved her experience and day with the goats!

If you have a special occasion, or perhaps just want a trip out, please do consider our Goat Walking Experience. It is a great way to support a local charity (all proceeds going back into the animal welfare) and perfect for animal lovers. We also have guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens on site. A big thank you to Brigstock community for kindly donating 10 Christmas trees, our pygmy goats are delighted! Your support is greatly appreciated.

Oakfield Community provides supported living accommodation to adults with physical and learning disabilities, autism, and challenging behaviours. 2 sites in Northamptonshire have flats, each customized for individual needs. Care and support are provided by our highly trained care and support team.

We are extremely pleased and proud to share the news that following Caroline's move-in day, all of the people we previously supported who had a single bedroom now have a flat equipped with their own kitchen, bathroom, lounge space and bedroom. This gives them their own space, boosting their independence and life skills whilst also having opportunities to socialise in our communal areas and with other tenants. As part of Oakfield's mission, we strive to "develop individuals to reach their full potential and live as independently as possible", a mission which we feel our refurbished flats have been a major factor in helping us achieve.

Following the final person we support moving into her flat, we have received great feedback from her family stating that they are extremely pleased with the flat and commented on how happy and settled Caroline seems. They mentioned that the flat feels as though it was made for her. After their previous visit, they had been feeling quite worried as Caroline didn’t seem herself, but this time they left feeling reassured and very happy. They feel that moving into her new flat has had a very positive effect on her wellbeing, they also mentioned how it is wonderful to visit and spend quality time with Caroline in a homely environment, rather than only in her bedroom or the communal lounge.
The family were also very complimentary about the ongoing and completed changes at Oakfield and said how positive it is.
