Hairy ear canals can sometimes be a HUGE problem! 😱👂🏼💇🏽‍♂️ Hair in the ear canal is generally normal and helps protect the skin, however thick hair can sometimes grow all the way to the eardrum and lead to itchiness and contribute to earwax buildup!

Hormonal changes, genetics and age can all be causes of thick hair growth and most of the time nothing to worry about, but if you find that hair causes you discomfort then it may be time to keep maintaining it and seeing your Earcare practitioner more regularly to prevent any earwax build ups! 👂🏼✅

Ever wondered what goes on inside your ear? 🔍👀👂🏼...This images shows bubbles behind an eardrum - a sign of a condition commonly known as 'glue ear' 🫧

These bubbles indicate fluid in the middle ear due to a blockage of the eustachian tube. Unlike ear infections, this fluid isn't caused by an infection. It can cause temporary loss of hearing and a feeling of fullness. Whilst glue ear is more common in children, adults with a history of the condition or seasonal allergies/sinus issues can be likely to get it!

Most cases resolve on their own but if symptoms persist, then seeing a healthcare professional for advice is best - in this case in clinic, we'll refer you to your GP.
