Patients from Luson Surgery moving to Wellington Medical Centre September 2025

In July 2025, the GP Partners at Luson Surgery have made the difficult decision that it is no longer sustainable to continue to offer general medical services to their patients. This is due to GP recruitment/retention and premises challenges.

Arrangements have been put in place for patients registered at Luson Surgery, to be automatically transferred to Wellington Medical Centre on Monday 29th September 2025. Luson Surgery patients will not need to do anything for this to happen.

Patients can move to another local practice if they prefer after a period of 4 weeks beyond the transfer of registration to Wellington Medical Centre. The 4 week timeframe is to ensure that the digital implications of moving patients can be completed.

We are working closely with Luson Surgery to support a smooth transfer of their patients to Wellington Medical Centre. We are also working to increase our staffing capacity to accommodate our new patients and to ensure we maintain access to appointments and patient care to all patients registered with us.

We want to reassure patients at our practice and patients at Luson Surgery alongside wider stakeholders that arrangements have been put in place for a smooth handover.

Please be patient and kind to our staff during this busy time.
