My body feels like it’s giving up on me!

It’s a statement I’ve heard (and felt 😂) many times over the years. You hit an age where warming up is no longer optional, your knees make noises similar to a set of maracas, a bad night sleep makes you feel like you’ve been hit by a bus and stress shows up way faster in your body than it ever has before.

But here is the part that I don’t hear enough, you’re actually stronger than you have ever been when you do train, and your body feels so much better for it. Your body is not giving up on you, it’s just responding differently than it has done before.

You feel it
You notice it
You can’t get away with things you used to

But…

Getting out there and lifting weights is going to make you feel better than you have in years.

If this sounds like you, then you’re not alone, and I can help you to love your body. Comment PLAN for more information.

Progress in the gym is hard, it’s slow, and it takes time and perseverance. The trouble is it’s easy to make excuses when the results don’t happen overnight. I hear it a lot:

“I don’t want to lift heavy it will make me look bulky”

“I’ll just stick to cardio”

“I used to be fitter, I will get back to it one day”

“I don’t have the time to workout”

“I’m going to start next week”

Now none of these reasons make you a bad person, but they are the reason you aren’t seeing the results you so desperately want. Progress doesn’t come from playing it safe, or avoiding strength work, and it most definitely doesn’t come from waiting for the right time to start. It comes from doing things that make you feel uncomfortable, and from consistency.

If you have heard yourself saying any of these excuses then it’s probably time to mix things up and do things differently. Comment CHANGE if you are ready and I will drop you a message.

Most women I speak to aren’t lazy, they are overwhelmed.

Social media is full of thousands of different workouts, so much conflicting advice, and quite often there is never a really clear plan on how to get started, so it’s easier to give up or stop looking because of the fear of make the wrong choices, and so it can all feel too much.

The truth is all you need is a simple plan, a plan that starts with 2-3 sessions a week initially so you aren’t overwhelmed, a plan that works for you, not a plan you have to work around. A plan that shows you exactly what you have to do in the gym so you don’t feel anxious about being there.

Sound familiar ladies? You aren’t alone, and you don’t have to navigate it alone.

My launch is closing in and if you are ready to get involved and get started comment PLAN below for more information.

I’m going to be totally honest, I did not feel like training today, but I did anyway. And guess what, now that I have I feel much better.

It is so easy to avoid training when you feel tired, or just don’t have the motivation, but pushing yourself out of your comfort zone will make all the difference. This was a ‘grind it out’ workout for me today, I took a steady pace and stuck to it. Give it a try, and if the Ski erg isn’t for you then swap it out for a rower or a C2 bike, but don’t forget if you are swapping it for the C2 bike, the distance is doubled….no cheating 😜😘. Enjoy 🫶🏼

This week has been a bit mad, I’ve not shown up as much as I would have liked to. I’ve had lots going on behind the scenes and fine tuning the app ready for launch working on getting everything right.

When you get caught up trying to hit perfection you realise perfection isn’t needed to keep moving, all you need is consistency, just keep going, just keep moving. That’s exactly how I help my clients, no extremes, it’s not an all or nothing type of training, it’s just progress, steady, and consistent progress. The best kind, the easiest to stick with, and for ladies 30+ exactly what their bodies love and need. Ours bodies change a lot as we hit this stage of life, and with that, the type of training our bodies need will also change too. Lifting weights and building strength is hugely beneficial for us, after turning 30 we can lose 3-5% of our muscle mass per decade, so it’s important we do something about it now so we can keep mobile as we age. Ladies, now is the time to show up, and showing up imperfectly beats not showing up at all!! You lap every single person sat on the couch. Comment STRENGTH to for more info.

Most women don’t avoid strength training because they are lazy, for the most part it will come down to feeling intimidated by the gym setting in itself, they may have no idea what they are doing, or they may be worried about injury.

This is exactly why I have been creating something new behind the scenes, a program designed help women feel confident lifting weights with proper technique and helping them build strength safely. Giving them the tools they needs to be able to walk into a gym and feel confident lifting weights around other people.

I’ve had a lot of interest already, and spaces will be opening very soon. So if you would like to be some of the first to get involved comment STRONG or DM me.

A program with no guesswork, no intimidation, just a lot of structure and support 💪🏼💗

How many times have you turned up to the gym not knowing what you are going to do or how you are going to train? I see it a lot, and In my experience most people lose interest in their fitness goals because they have no real road map to get to where they need to be, or to achieve what they want. Ongoing motivation comes from strong foundations, from having a program to follow, having accountability from regular progress check in’s, and support along the way.

A lot of woman 35+ feel lost in their body, there are changes that are starting to happen, and not really knowing the best way to navigate these changes can be really tough.

Let’s not get it twisted, exercise isnt going to prevent perimenopause, or stop it completely in its tracks, but what it will do is give you a new set of tools to hit it head on. Keeping your body active will make you feel more in control of what is happening to your body and the changes taking place, team that with staying consistent and eating well and you will already have the foundations of something special.

My aim is to get woman 35+ active, to get them feeling better, get them moving better and get them living better. I already train over 25 woman each week on a 1:1 or group basis through my Menofit program, and now it’s time to take this training online and help as many women as I possibly can live better life’s.

COMING SOON!! My 8 Week Strong Foundations Program, designed to get woman training and feeling confident from a beginner level. This will be available via my new app as a gym based program or a home based program (with or without equipment) and includes a huge workout library with videos so you will always know exactly what you need to do.

So if this sounds like something you need, keep your eyes peeled, there will be more information on this over the next week. And if you would like to be kept in the loop ready for the launch then comment STRONG and I will make sure you don’t miss out.

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

I cannot emphasise this enough, getting started with any exercise program doesn’t have to be complicated, it doesn’t need to be really costly, it can be as simple as starting at home in your living room, and if you have no equipment then that’s ok too, as you have the best piece of equipment there is, your own body. Of course the gym is always an option, but for many that can be really daunting, especially if you have never been before, or are feeling really conscious of your fitness level. Starting at home can be a great way to build confidence and learn the ropes before plucking up the courage to take the hard work to the gym.

No matter where you place on the fitness level ladder, there will be a way to get you started, to get you moving, it’s so important that you know everyone has to start somewhere, and everyone starts at a different level, and that’s ok. If you aren’t sure where or how to start just reach out. It doesn’t have to be a scary experience, it can be fun and it can really make a difference to your health and your life as a whole. Small progress is progress, and don’t forget it.

To say I am proud of these ladies today would be an understatement. Every week I write the session plan on the white board, and there are usually a couple moans 😂 but today everyone was too busy chatting to realise I had actually written banded pull ups down for one of today’s strength sections🫣. To say they were concerned when they realised was probably accurate. But, after a lot of reassurance and a lot explaining to them that they are more than capable, I can safely say that these ladies absolutely smashed it and then some today. At one point I didn’t think I was going to be able to get them to stop 😂. Lots of fears were conquered today, and lots of confidence gained. One of my favourite sessions so far with this lovely group. A big well done all round 💪🏼can’t wait for the next one 🫶🏼

Training woman who are suffering from menopausal symptoms means a lot to me. As woman our bodies change as we age, what our bodies need changes too. It can leave us feeling left behind, leave our bodies feeling very different and vulnerable. So many woman avoid exercise throughout this phase of life, and in the grand scheme of things the total opposite is actually needed. With oestrogen levels lowered, never before has strength training been so important to us. Staying strong throughout menopause can help prevent a lack of bone density and help prevent osteoporosis, it can help keep us mobile and flexible, and on top of that helps us look and feel great.

I know it can be daunting, especially if it’s been a while since you have worked out, or maybe you never have. One of the reasons I love helping woman in this way is because I know how it feels, I understand what you are going through and I know I can help. If you feel you would like to talk more about this and have some support through this phase, comment STRENGTH below and I will get back to you.
