Awareness Days! There are hundreds of them National Popcorn Lovers Day / Roast Dinner Day even Towel Day!!, to name some random few!
But there are many which serve as a platform to raise awareness, for people to voice their aspirations, advocate for their rights, and call for policies that ensure changes to support important causes.
Awareness days can play a significant role in society by shining a spotlight on important issues, causes, and communities.
For this year’s World Mental Health Day, the focus is on the mental health impact of repeated exposure to news coverage of crises and conflicts.
The world is going through a tough time right now and even if you’re not directly affected by events, it can still feel like a lot to cope with.
It’s okay to ask for help, no matter what you, or anyone else is going through.
We all sometimes need ways to manage feelings of overwhelm, so don’t be afraid to reach out.
We may not have the power to influence or change everything we’d like to on a global scale. But there are things we can do to protect ourselves and others from feeling overwhelmed and hopeless in the face of current events.
Look after your own mental wellbeing, distract yourselves and find enjoyment in friends, family, sport, hobbies.
At Heads Up, creative activities plays a huge part in the support we provide, as it offers a welcoming, calming, safe environment to learn something new and connect with other people.
Whether you’re suffering long term with your mental health and are referred to our services, or you just need a distraction from feeling low and anxious and you’re accessing our community learning courses, or peer support groups, we’re here for you.
