After the deeply distressing reports about Legacy Funeral Directors in Hull we are sure that the public are feeling greatly concerned.
In light of this we would urge families to use a funeral director such as ourselves who are a member of SAIF. We are required to adhere to a strict code of practice which includes care of the deceased, the return of ashes and invoicing, and our businesses are inspected on a regular basis to ensure we uphold those standards.

As the year draws to a close, it’s common to think of the people who are special to us – especially those we've lost. That’s why we’ve chosen to take part in Light a Candle.
From 11 to 22 December, we’ll be posting digital candles in memory of those who can’t be with us during the festive season. If you’d like to create a virtual candle, please click the following link where you can choose a design and write a short message to a loved one.

We’re pleased to announce the return of Light a Candle this Christmas! Taking part in this Christmas’s Light a Candle gives you the opportunity to create online memorials throughout the festive period.
Christmas is a special time to celebrate with family and friends, and our virtual candles are a thoughtful way to pay tribute to loved ones who are no longer with us.
We'll be sharing virtual candles on our page between 11 and 22 December. There's no cost for you or your family to get involved and create an online memorial.

CREMATED REMAINS NOTICE - PLEASE SHARE

Here at Unwins Independent Funeral Directors we are still holding cremated remains from 2004 to 2015.
Legally we are obliged to keep remains for at least 5 years and make every effort to contact the next of kin which we have now done. Unfortunately, with no response from a number of families this notice will be our last attempt to try to communicate with them.
Any remains that are not claimed in the next 28 days will be returned to the crematorium where the cremation took place for scattering.

We are seeing a lot of advertising at the moment for Pure/Direct Cremations but did you know your local Independent Funeral Director can offer the same service?
We know times are hard and not everyone wants a large funeral but we still want to offer people the personal touch, a friendly face and comfortable surroundings to arrange any kind of funeral, big or small. Our direct cremations cost £1800 and can be pre paid using one of our Golden Charter Funeral Plans. If this is something you have thought about come and talk to us first.

We are looking for two new bearers to join our team. As well as bearing on funerals the role would include removals in, and out of hours. They must hold a full driving licence, work well with others and be able to carry out instructions competently and compassionatly. Would suit a retired person.
