Booking is now live for Spring Covid Clinics. The vaccination clinics will be held at West Mendip Hospital from this Saturday. Eligible patients can book by calling 119 or online via https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/book-covid-19-vaccination/ Please note that we will not be administering any vaccines at the practice for the spring campaign.

Patient notice regarding urgent medication requests:

We’ve recently seen an increase in urgent prescription requests, which is putting additional pressure on our clinical team and may lead to delays.

To help us provide a safe and efficient service for everyone, we ask that all repeat prescription requests are submitted in good time. Please allow up to 5 working days from ordering to collection.

A few simple ways to avoid running out:

💊 Order your medication when you reach your last full blister strip
💊 Set a reminder on your phone or calendar
💊 Use online services (NHS App or Patient Access) to easily check and reorder your medication

Requests should be submitted in writing via email, Patient Access, NHS App, Rapid Health, or a repeat prescription form.

Somerset Council's Public Health - Somerset health & Wellbeing Survey is now live.

This survey is a key opportunity for people across Somerset to share what matters most to them when it comes to their health and wellbeing - from accessing support and reliable information, to opportunities to live healthier, more active lives.

The insight gathered will directly inform how services are designed, delivered and improved across the county, helping us better meet the needs of our communities and tackle health inequalities.

The survey is open to all Somerset residents aged 18+ and will run until Monday 27 April

📢 MenB – UKHSA guidance update

We are aware of concerns locally following recent meningococcal cases in Kent.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) is managing the situation through targeted public health measures.

At present:

-There is no recommendation for a wider MenB vaccination programme

-Vaccination is not being offered based on general exposure or concern

People identified as close contacts will be contacted directly by UKHSA or the local Health Protection Team and advised if any action is needed. This may include antibiotics (chemoprophylaxis) arranged via their GP.

Close contacts are defined as those with high-risk exposure, such as household members or those with prolonged close contact, not general social or campus contact.

If you are worried about symptoms such as severe headache, fever, rash, or neck stiffness, please seek urgent medical advice.

We’re aware that recent news about meningitis cases in Kent may be causing concern, and we’ve had an increase in calls from worried patients.

We want to reassure you that cases remain rare and the situation is being closely managed by public health teams.

**Know the symptoms – this is the most important thing:**
Seek urgent medical help if you or your child develops:
• Fever
• Vomiting
• Severe headache
• Stiff neck
• Sensitivity to light
• Drowsiness, confusion, or difficulty waking
• A rash that does not fade when pressed

These symptoms can develop quickly, so trust your instincts and seek help immediately if you are concerned.

**Vaccination information:**
• The MenB vaccine has been part of the routine childhood schedule since 2015
• Older children and teenagers would not usually have received this vaccine on the NHS
• There is no current advice to give additional or urgent vaccinations in response to this situation
• If any further vaccinations are needed, the NHS will contact the relevant groups directly

If you or your child is unwell, please contact us, NHS 111, or attend A&E in an emergency.

PATIENT UPDATE 📣📣📣

Towards the end of last year we shared that we would be reviewing how patients are allocated across the GP team. We wanted to let you know that this work has now been completed.

This was an administrative change to help balance the workload linked to each GP more fairly across the team. As the amount of background clinical and administrative work has increased over time, redistributing our patient lists helps ensure this work is shared more evenly and supports the practice in continuing to run safely and efficiently.

This change does not affect the care you receive or how you access the practice. You can still book appointments with any GP or clinician in the team, just as you always have.

Some patients may notice that the “usual GP” recorded on their medical record has changed. This is simply the GP linked to your record for administrative purposes and does not limit which clinicians you can see.

Sexual assault and abuse can happen to anyone. It may be a single event or happen repeatedly. Sexual assault referral centres (SARCs) provide free, specialist care and support to anyone who has been r***d, sexually assaulted or abused, at any time in their life. SARCs offer 27/7 support to people of all ages, sexual orientation or gender identity. You do not need to involve the police or report what happened to get help. The SARC team will listen to you and believe you and you will be cared for in a safe place. Visit nhs.uk/SARCs for more information.
