Morland is hiring an: Estimator

Purpose of the Role
Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates and quotations to support customer orders and business growth, ensuring alignment with production capability, materials, and commercial requirements.

Key Responsibilities
• Prepare cost estimates and quotations based on drawings, specifications, and customer requirements
• Analyse materials, labour, and production processes to determine accurate costing
• To ensure all IPG policies & procedures are implemented and followed
• Liaise with Production, Planning, and Technical teams to validate feasibility and assumptions
• Review customer requirements and highlight any risks, constraints, or inconsistencies
• Maintain and update pricing data, cost models, and estimation tools
• Support continuous improvement of estimating accuracy and processes
• Assist with reviewing completed jobs to compare estimated vs actual costs (where applicable)
• Ensure all quotations are completed within agreed timescales and priorities

Decision Making & Authority
• Makes costing decisions based on defined pricing structures, data, and assumptions
• Escalates complex, high-risk, or non-standard requirements for review
• Recommends pricing adjustments or process improvements to improve accuracy and competitiveness

Friday, some of the Morland team visited Llanfyllin High School to talk to Year 8 students about careers within our business.

We were joined by other local businesses, including Nidec, Newmor Wallcoverings, and Makefast, to inspire the next generation and show the variety of opportunities available in manufacturing and business.

It was fantastic to meet so many enthusiastic students and share what a career in our sector can offer!

Vendredi, certains membres de l'équipe MORLAND ont rendu visite au lycée de Llanfyllin pour parler de carrières dans notre entreprise aux élèves de 4ème.

Nous avons été rejoints par d'autres entreprises locales, notamment NIDEC, NEWMOR WALLCOVERINGS et MAKEFAST, pour inspirer la prochaine génération et montrer la variété des opportunités disponibles dans la fabrication et le commerce et les affaires.

Ce fut fantastique de rencontrer autant d'élèves enthousiastes et de partager ce qu'une carrière dans notre secteur peut offrir !

This week we had a very special visitor!

Dilys, from Churchstoke CP School joined us for a day of work experience (complete with his very own hard hat). The pupils at the school each take Dilys home for a week and capture photos of all the adventures he gets up to. This week it was the turn of Rachel Jones’ daughter, so Dilys came along to see what life at Morland is all about.

He made an appearance at the national conference we were attending, helping to “work the room” and chat with current and potential clients.

After all that networking, Dilys has said he’s looking forward to a quiet weekend to recover! 😄

Last week we were delighted to host the Mid Wales Regional Skills Partnership at Morland, welcoming local businesses and organisations for a morning of discussion and collaboration.

The partnership works closely with employers and education providers across the region to better understand current and future skills needs, helping to ensure training and education align with the demands of local industry.

It was a great opportunity to share insights, discuss the challenges businesses are facing, and explore how collaboration can help support a strong and skilled workforce in Mid Wales.

Guests also had the chance to tour our manufacturing sites and see our operations first-hand.

Thank you to everyone who attended.

La semaine dernière, nous avons eu le plaisir d'accueillir le Partenariat Régional des Compétences du Mid Wales sur le site de MORLAND, en recevant des entreprises et des organisations locales pour une matinée de discussion et de collaboration.

Le partenariat travaille en étroite collaboration avec les employeurs et les établissements éducatifs de la région pour mieux comprendre les besoins actuels et futurs en compétences, contribuant ainsi à garantir que la formation et l'éducation correspondent aux exigences de l'industrie locale.

We’re proud to support our current apprentices Honey Roberts and Dan Booker, and celebrate the achievements of Nikki Welsford, Holly Husbands, and Niamh Forsyth who have successfully completed their Level 3 qualifications.

Honey shared what she enjoys most about her apprenticeship:

"What I enjoy most about my apprenticeship is that I get hands on training in specific aspects of the job. By starting my apprenticeship at Morland I am offered a structured pathway to professional development, combining on the job training with theoretical learning. This approach has allowed me to acquire not only practical skills and industry knowledge but also a foundational understanding of the field. For me an apprenticeship was the best way for me to gain a qualification whilst also gaining practical skills. I am excited to see what the future of my apprenticeship at Morland brings."

Purpose of the Role
Lead a production team to deliver the plan safely, on time, and to specification in our manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Allocate people and tasks to meet the daily production plan and priorities
• To ensure all IPG policies & procedures are implemented and followed
• Manage team absence and holidays to meet production plan
• Control area performance: output, quality, safety, housekeeping, and downtime
• Ensure work instructions and specifications are understood and followed
• Provide coaching, feedback, and on-the-job training; support competence development
• Escalate constraints (materials, labour, equipment, quality) and propose solutions
• Support continuous improvement and standardisation activities
Decision Making & Authority
• Decides task sequencing within the plan and reallocates labour within the area
• Stops production for safety or serious quality risk; escalates appropriately

Key Interfaces
• Production Manager
• Planner
• Warehouse Team Leader
• Quality Technician
• Health & Safety Manager

🌍 World Cancer Day 🎗️

On World Cancer Day we stand with everyone affected by cancer. Those living with it, those who have survived, and those we remember. Each year, approximately 20 million new cancer cases are diagnosed worldwide, highlighting just how important awareness, support and vital research continue to be.

At Morland, we’re proud to have raised money for Macmillan Cancer Support over the years through charity walks, bake sales, and raffles. It’s a small way of raising awareness and showing our support for those affected and the important work Macmillan does.

🌍 Journée Mondiale contre le Cancer 🎗️

Lors de cet évènement mondial, nous nous tenons aux côtés de tous ceux qui sont touchés par le cancer. Ceux qui vivent avec, ceux qui ont survécu et ceux dont nous nous souvenons. Chaque année, environ 20 millions de nouveaux cas de cancer sont diagnostiqués dans le monde, ce qui souligne à quel point la sensibilisation, le soutien et la recherche vitale restent essentiels.

Chez MORLAND, nous sommes fiers d'avoir collecté des fonds pour MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT au fil des ans grâce à des actions caritatives ; matinées café-gourmand avec la vente de gâteaux, des tombolas, et bien plus. C'est une façon de montrer notre soutien à ceux qui sont touchés ainsi que de sensibiliser notre communauté sur le remarquable travail réalisé par l’organisation caritative MACMILLAN luttant contre le cancer.
