Once again, our staff are being subjected to verbal abuse from patients saying “if I die, it will be your fault” after their clinical request was triaged by a GP.

Patients that verbally abuse staff will be sent a written warning. This is not acceptable, please be kind.

Sadly, we are needing to send a reminder to treat our staff with respect. We have had several incidents this month where staff have been shouted at, had fingers pointed in their faces, fists slammed on the counter and to be told that it’s part of our job to take the abuse!

Can you imagine speaking to your hairdresser, or bank manager, or someone speaking to your daughter or mum in that way?

Our staff are regularly reduced to tears by these kinds of unacceptable behaviours and we will not tolerate the abuse.

We appreciate this is an incredibly small minority of patients that this applies to, and we are grateful to those that are kind and polite - it makes our jobs so much easier.
