Sun’s out, mood’s up ☀️

It’s a beautiful Friday and the perfect excuse to get moving. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a gentle jog, a bike ride, or just stretching in the sunshine, your body will thank you for it.

If something’s been holding you back, we’re here to help you move with confidence again.

Get outside, enjoy the sunshine, and take that first step!

Headaches are common and some can be linked to the neck.

Certain headaches, such as cervicogenic and some tension-type headaches, are often associated with neck stiffness, muscle sensitivity, or reduced movement. These may worsen with desk work or sustained positions and can be felt at the base of the skull, temples, or behind the eyes.

When appropriate, physiotherapy can help improve neck function and reduce headache frequency and intensity. If you’re unsure whether physiotherapy could help, get in touch with The Physio Clinic WGC for advice or assessment.

At Physio Clinic WGC, we love celebrating the incredible ways movement can transform lives 💚

The Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) offers young riders the chance to experience the therapeutic benefits of horse riding in a safe, supportive environment.

Sitting on the pony and feeling its natural movement can help to loosen muscles, build core strength, and encourage communication, all while developing a truly special bond with the animal.

Beyond the physical benefits, riding also nurtures confidence, independence, and new skills that can grow and adapt with each individual rider.

We’re especially proud of our physio, Diana Whiteley, who has been volunteering at Digswell Place Stables for around 10 years. The RDA relies on a wonderful community of volunteers to prepare the ponies and support riders during their sessions, and what a rewarding experience it is!

Pictured here is Diana with a fantastic young rider and Baloo, enjoying a beautiful sunny day ☀️

If you’re interested in volunteering and being part of something truly special, please contact the RDA head office directly.

Neck & shoulder tension is common, but it’s not always just “stress.”

Long periods at computers, phones, or TV can overload these muscles when they don’t get enough movement or variation. The result? Fatigue, sensitivity, and that familiar tight, achy feeling.

The good news: scans often show no damage. With the right movement, exercise, and guidance, symptoms can improve and stay improved. Active physiotherapy helps you regain confidence and long-term relief.

Get in touch with The Physio Clinic WGC to find out how we can help you manage neck and shoulder tension effectively.

From elite sport to everyday strength…

Having worked with professional and international athletes, our founder, Mandy understands the demands placed on the body at every level.

But just as importantly, she knows it’s not only about performance, it’s about longevity.

As someone who values staying fit, strong, and active herself, Mandy appreciates first-hand the importance of adapting, maintaining strength, and staying confident as we get older.

Because whether you’re competing at the highest level or simply want to keep doing what you love, the goal is the same to keep moving well for life.

Tight calves? It might be affecting more than just your ankles.

Limited calf flexibility can influence knee and lower-limb biomechanics but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. Strength, training load, and what’s happening further up the kinetic chain all play a role.

In this photo, team Physio Kerris demonstrates a straight-knee calf stretch, targeting the gastrocnemius.

✔️ Stretch to strong tension, not pain
✔️ Hold for 30–60 seconds
✔️ Repeat once or twice daily or after training

❌ Avoid short, bouncing stretches

Technique matters.

A well-executed stretch helps target specific tight fibres that may be affecting alignment and movement in both sport and everyday life.

Here are some of our top tips:
• Keep your foot pointing in the direction of the stretch
• Gently lift the instep to increase the stretch sensation

If you’ve strained or torn your calf and stretching is painful, it’s important to get the right advice at the right stage of healing.

Our team at The Physiotherapy Clinic WGC can guide you with the right rehab plan to support your recovery.
