🏃‍♂️ Marathon training is ramping up, is your body ready for the miles ahead?

At our Running Assessment Clinic, available 3 days a week, physiotherapist Beverley Brocklehurst (an experienced runner and triathlete herself) provides in-depth running assessments designed specifically for runners.

We don’t just treat symptoms. We look at the bigger picture, assessing your running mechanics, strength, mobility, and training load to understand why pain has developed and how to address it properly.

Your personalised, evidence-based plan may include:

✔️ Smart load modification
✔️ Targeted strength work
✔️ Technique refinement
✔️ Recovery strategies

Building mileage is part of marathon preparation, managing load and recovery is what keeps you running strong all the way to the start line.

If niggles are creeping in or you want to run with confidence this season, book your assessment today.

To the woman who is always “just quickly…”

Just quickly replying.
Just quickly organising.
Just quickly pushing through.

But quietly coping with:
• Leaking when you run
• Pelvic heaviness by the end of the day
• Pelvic pain you’ve normalised
• Pain during intimacy
• A body that doesn’t feel as strong as it used to

Let’s be clear:

Pelvic pain isn’t “just part of being a woman.”

Leaking isn’t something you have to accept.

Heaviness isn’t something you have to push through.

You don’t have to just manage it.

And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

In clinic, we help women understand what’s happening in their bodies, treat pelvic pain properly, and rebuild real pelvic floor strength, not just “do your Kegels.”

Busy women deserve bodies that support their lives, not limit them.

If something here sounds familiar, consider this your permission slip to book the appointment.

“It’s probably just bloating…”

Except sometimes, it’s not.

Last week, Judy Bunney, Women’s Health Physiotherapist at our clinic, saw a patient in clinic whose symptoms made her pelvic health radar switch on. 🚨

✔️ Persistent bloating.
✔️ Feeling full quickly.

A change that wasn’t normal for her.

She almost brushed it off.

“Maybe it’s just hormones…”

It didn’t sit right with Judy.

So she wrote to the patient’s GP that same day outlining her concerns.

She was seen and scanned the very next day. 👏

Now, this doesn’t mean it is ovarian cancer.

But it does mean her symptoms were taken seriously.

And that’s exactly how it should be.

🚩 Ovarian cancer symptoms can be subtle:

• Bloating that’s persistent (not the comes-and-go kind)

• Pelvic/abdominal pain

• Feeling full quickly

• Needing to wee more often

If it’s new, frequent or not normal for you, please get it checked.

As pelvic health professionals, we don’t just treat muscles.

We advocate.

We listen.

We escalate when needed.

This Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, let’s normalise acting early.

You are not wasting anyone’s time.

You are allowed to be cautious. 💚

Physio Bev from our clinic isn’t letting the rain stop her training! 🌧️🏃‍♀️

Winter running motivation has definitely been tested with all this wet weather, but Bev’s found the perfect way to stay consistent.

A trusty running buddy 🐾

She’s brilliant at pacing… as long as Bev doesn’t mind the occasional detour for a quick river dip!

Good company makes the miles fly by — whatever the weather!

🧠 Rethink Mental Illness

Today is Time to Talk Day.

At Physio Clinic WGC, we see every day how closely physical health and mental wellbeing are connected. Pain, injury, and recovery don’t just affect the body, they can affect how you feel too.

Today is a reminder that talking helps. Whether it’s about your physical recovery, your mental health, or both, you don’t have to go through it alone.

How mobile are your ankles?

Try the knee-to-wall test, a simple way to screen ankle mobility.

👉 Stand facing a wall and bend your knee forward to touch it, keeping your heel firmly on the floor.

👉 Gradually move your foot further away from the wall and see how far you can go while still touching the wall with your knee.

👉Measure the distance from your toes to the wall, normal ankle mobility is around 8–12 cm.

At the clinic, we don’t use this test in isolation. We combine it with assessments of strength, movement quality, and side-to-side differences to guide rehabilitation and return to activity.

If you’re experiencing ankle pain, stiffness, or reduced movement, you can try this test at home or get in touch with us for a full assessment and personalised support.

We’re so proud to share this amazing message from one of Kerris’ recent patients who recently ran the London Marathon pain-free! 🙌💪

“I wanted to let you know that I ran the London Marathon and completed it in 5.5 hours without any pain in my IT Band whatsoever!! 🏃🏼‍♀️😊 Not even any pain there afterwards either.

“This is thanks to you and your brilliant treatment and exercises you gave me, so thank you very much. I had no further pain after I spoke to you on the phone a couple of months ago so no pain for the last 6 weeks or so of my training! I did the exercises religiously and they have worked so well. When I start running again I will continue to do them as well.

“The marathon went soo well.

“It was one of the best days of my life and the biggest sporting challenge I’ve done to date 🏃🏼‍♀️😊.

“I think I ran 3 quarters of it with a smile on my face. I was so happy to be there, it went by really quickly and the crowd were absolutely amazing.

“It was hard at times but the crowd really kept us all going 😊.

“I thought you might like to see this photo of me with my medal and a big smile on my face 😆🥇.”

Hearing stories like this is why we do what we do.

If you’re working toward a big goal – or just want to move pain-free – our experienced team is here to help every step of the way.

Book an appointment with us today at The Physio Clinic WGC and see how we can support your journey.

🙌 Ending the week with some lovely feedback from a patient we have supported over many years.

“Over many years Mandy has successfully assessed and treated my injuries and medical conditions with her extensive knowledge and professionalism, utilising a combination of physiotherapy, massage and acupuncture.

“Every outcome has been exceptional, keeping me fit and able; but none more so than over the last 6 months when she treated me for gluteal tendinopathy and muscle fatigue.

“Helping me to recover quickly, she and her team enabled me to embark on my 630mile charity walk as a cancer survivor.

“Mandy’s skills have consistently helped to relieve my pain and stiffness and keep me fit and mobile enough to continue walking one of the most challenging paths in the UK. I am extremely grateful for her continued support as this challenge to raise money and awareness for a cancer wellbeing charity is so important to me.

“Thank you Mandy and all the team.”

Thank you to Sue for this fantastic testimonial, Sue is fundraising by walking 630 miles along the South West Coastal Oath, find out more about her journey and help her reach her fundraising goal here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/sue-lloyd-1720001835316?
