Congratulations to Midwife and DAISY Award winner, Lauren Mitchell! 🌼

Lauren has been recognised with a DAISY Award for her extraordinary grace, dignity, and compassion during an incredibly heart-breaking time for a local family.

Nominated by a patient following the loss of her son, Lauren was praised for her ability to make the "unthinkable bearable." While picking up an extra shift, Lauren provided vital strength to the patient, her husband, and her mother, balancing professional expertise with deep, personal empathy. From helping the family create precious memories to treating their son with the utmost dignity, Lauren’s "extra touches" left a lasting impact.

“Lauren walked through our grief with us; she made us feel so comfortable and our feelings valid. She was exactly what we needed, strength when we were sad, and offering a joke when we had no crying left. It was Lauren’s eyes I looked into as I delivered my baby... she helped me be stronger than I ever thought I could be.”

We would also like to acknowledge Mary, Beth, and Consultant Racheal, who were all part of the dedicated team providing care and reassurance at every step.

Thank you Lauren, for your professionalism and kindness.

Congratulations to Midwife and DAISY Award winner, Sophie Dodds!

Sophie has been recognised with a DAISY Award for her exceptional compassion, calm leadership, and thoughtful, person centred care, ensuring a family could have the birth experience they hoped for, safely and confidently.

Nominated by a grateful patient following a challenging first pregnancy, Sophie and fellow midwife Katie Foscoe honoured a detailed birth preferences document that respected the patients wishes and needs.

“Sophie made me feel like everything would be okay and that it was possible to have the birth we wanted. The care provided after the birth was above and beyond what I expected… We would like to thank Sophie and Katie for such a positive, special birth after such a challenging pregnancy.”

Thank you, Sophie, for the exceptional care you provide every day and for the confidence, clarity, and kindness you gave this family at every step.
