The largest town centre event of the year is back,the World Food Festival 2026 returns next month.

But did you know this event is funded by the businesses of Welwyn Garden City town centre and organised by the BID team? This means 2026 could be the last World Food Festival.

This is a crucial year for the town centre. Later this year local businesses will vote on whether to continue the BID for another five-year term, helping to fund events, promotions and improvements that support the town centre.

The Welwyn Garden City World Food Festival 2026 is returning and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever!

Last year, over 30,000 visitors joined us across the weekend, bringing incredible energy to the town centre and supporting our amazing local businesses.

Did you know? This October, Welwyn Garden City train station turns 100! 🥳

To kick off the centenary celebrations, Hertfordshire County Council, The All Aboarders, local residents, and us the WGC BID have teamed up to transform the footbridge and John Lewis Subway with stunning town centre illustrations, images, and artwork for everyone to enjoy.

A huge thank you to the amazing All Aboarders!
Your time, energy, and dedication make our station and town centre vibrant, welcoming, and full of colour. We’re so grateful for everything you do.

Celebrating 9 Years of Welwyn Garden City BID! 🎉

Today marks the 9th anniversary of the Welwyn Garden City BID!

Since 2017, the BID has been supporting and shaping our town centre through events like the World Food Festival, Christmas Lights Switch-On, and Christmas Lights Trail, bringing thousands of visitors and creating a vibrant atmosphere for businesses and the community.

We’ve also built a strong town centre brand, Wonderful WGC, giving businesses and the community an identity to be proud of, while promoting Welwyn Garden City as a destination.

Over £3 million has been invested into the town centre through levy payments, sponsorship, funding, grants, and event income, funding floral displays, seating, and other enhancements.

Independent yet working closely with local authorities, the BID is guided by town centre businesses and plays a strategic role in attracting investment, creating opportunities, and reinvesting back into the town.

This year, local businesses will vote on whether to continue another term of support, investment, and events delivered by the us the WGC BID team.

Thank you to all businesses, partners and the community who’ve supported us, here’s to continuing to grow a thriving Welwyn Garden City!
