This post has been made on behalf of Peartree PatientVoices, the practice’s Patient Participation Group.

Hopefully most patients have now seen that our practice is changing to a Digital Triage appointment booking system from Monday 17 June 2024. If not, it is fully explained in the link below. We see this as a positive change, while recognizing that some patients will need help with the new process.

Practice staff will be available at the surgeries and on the phone to help anyone finding this difficult. In addition, PatientVoices are offering remote assistance to anyone who may wish to ask for help from a fellow patient to make their digital appointment requests. If you would like to do this, please email us on peartree.pv@gmail.com

Our response will not be instant, but we will try to help as soon as we can.

Planned Website Maintenance Wednesday 17 April

We would like to inform our patients that our website will undergo a period of essential maintenance on Wednesday 17 April. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption, but we anticipate the website may be unavailable for up to one working day.

Our telephone lines will be open as usual and if you need medical assistance outside surgery hours, please use NHS 111 online, or call 111. In an emergency, call 999.

Diabetes Medicines - Current and Future
Webinar on Weds 17 April from 7 - 8 pm

The Herts and West Essex Diabetes Support Group is hosting a free webinar coming up soon. It's being given by NICE (the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) and it covers current and future medication for both Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. It's open to all and will be of particular interest for recently diagnosed and established patients with diabetes.

This is a short update about blood tests:

For the majority of patients, blood tests requested by the practice are carried out at the phlebotomy clinics in the New QEII, Lister and Hertford County hospitals, and all appointments must be pre-booked, unless urgent.

Blood tests requested by hospital consultant teams do not need to be booked, although making a booking may be quicker.

The easiest way to book is online using SwiftQueue, and all details can be found in the link below. You have to register with SwiftQueue and then you can book and manage appointments for yourself and other family members. Please note the system currently asks you to confirm you will bring your GP referral card/letter. You should agree this, but it is not necessary to take any referral paperwork with you.

For those patients unable to use the Internet, or those requiring an urgent appointment where one is not available via the booking service, please speak directly to the phlebotomy team on 01438 284044 (Mon - Fri, 9 am - 5 pm).

Please be aware that it is not possible to search for our 3 local hospital clinics directly from the SwiftQueue system. This is to stop patients outside the area booking and the best way to get to the booking pages is to use the links provided on the Trust’s website from the link below.

The Trust’s phlebotomy department supports phlebotomy services in virtually every GP practice within East and North Hertfordshire. Phlebotomists are trained to take a small amount of blood from patients for examination in a laboratory.
