Whilst away studying doing some fantastic CPD in all the horses I worked with as case studies were very tense, anxious and needed support with grounding and de-stressing. In fact these sessions were probably the most challenging I’ve had of all the horses I’ve worked with over the last 2 years.
But from a challenge there are always lessons! I have been feeling ungrounded and anxious myself lately and so I was drawn to horses who were experiencing similar, and this reminded me to make sure I continually work on grounding myself - it is important for all of us to feel grounded in our bodies, and to try to d-stress as much as possible, but when giving it is SO important.
I learn from every horse I work with, and challenging sessions mean I need to think on my feet to decide which direction to take the session in to ensure I am always doing the best for the horse and remaining calm and centred, and of course safe myself.
There are so many ways for us as humans to ground ourselves including walking in nature, yoga type practises, focussing on your breathing, or simply engaging with your senses by enjoying a hot drink or cold shower!
