💚 Macmillan's Biggest Coffee Morning 💚

Yesterday, residents, families, and team members across our care homes came together to take part in Macmillan's Biggest Coffee Morning, showing incredible community spirit while supporting such a meaningful cause.

The tables were filled with an array of delicious homemade bakes, from beautifully decorated cakes to mouth-watering cheesecakes, along with plenty of tea and coffee. A huge thank you to everyone who baked, donated, and supported our homes’ events 🫖

✨ A Day at the Opera ✨

Our annual opera event was held once again at the historic Knebworth House, with musical entertainment provided by the Connaught Opera. Residents from several of our care homes came along to enjoy an afternoon of familiar operatic songs, Broadway tunes and other well-loved classics.

Glenn Wilson, Maria Arakie, and pianist Nicholas Bosworth gave a warm and lively performance. Their singing, music, and colourful outfits kept everyone entertained, and many in the audience happily joined in with the songs.

We’re grateful to the performers for sharing their talents and also to the Lytton-Cobbold family for kindly welcoming us back into their beautiful home. This gathering is always a favourite on our calendar and was enjoyed by all who attended.

🍂 Willow Courts Walking Wednesdays in Autumn 🍂

Yesterday marked the beginning of Walking Wednesdays for Willow Court Care Home as they set out on a refreshing autumn stroll! Along the way, residents spotted signs of the seasons changing with conkers on the floor, scattered pine cones and golden leaves on the trees.

Residents had a wonderful time and went back home for a nice hot cup of tea 🍵

Smiles and Stories at Oakmoor Lodge's Knit and Natter Club 🪡🧶

Residents at Oakmoor Lodge spent a relaxed Wednesday afternoon at their Knit and Natter Club, picking up projects they had previously been working on. Whilst adding to their own creations, some residents took the opportunity to teach the carers a few knitting tips and tricks, proudly passing on their skills and experience!

Last week, residents from Belmont View set sail on their annual canal cruise with the incredible CanalAbility charity and they had a truly wonderful time! 🛥️

They enjoyed a serene journey along the picturesque countryside, stopping halfway for a picnic-style lunch and of course, a classic cup of tea 🫖

We held our care awards ceremony on Thursday 11th September to celebrate the incredible dedication of our staff and their commitment to making life in our care homes so special for our residents. The event also celebrated members of staff who achieved a qualification within the care field, recognising their personal investment in their education.

The ceremony was held in the Event Marquee at the Hertfordshire zoo and finalists and guests were invited to tour the zoo before and after the event.

This year the care awards categories and finalists were:

We are delighted to announce that Satpal Kambo, the Chef Manager at Garden City Court, has been selected as a finalist in this year’s VfL Awards for Excellence in Vegetarian & Vegan Care Catering.

Satpal is no stranger to these awards and has been a consistent finalist and winner in recent years.

The award ceremony will be held at the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday 22 October during which the winner will be announced.

We wish Satpal every success at this year’s awards and congratulate her on reaching the finals!
