Yesterday, residents at Melwood Grange Care Home took part in an Easter baking activity, making a classic seasonal favourite – Easter chocolate nests. Everyone enjoyed getting involved, but the favourite part of the afternoon was sitting down together to enjoy the finished treats with a cup of tea🐰🫖

Yesterday, we marked the retirement of Maria Ball after almost 23 years as Chief Executive of Quantum Care.

Since joining in October 2003, Maria has shown consistent dedication to the organisation and to the wider Health and Social Care sector. She has guided our organisation through change, challenges and growth, including the development of new homes and new services. Her leadership has played a significant role in shaping Quantum Care and strengthening its commitment to high-quality, person-centred care and support.

Beyond Quantum Care, Maria has given her time and voice to causes close to her heart. Through her work with the National Care Forum, including serving as Chair, she has helped shape the future of the not-for-profit care sector. Her contributions to Age UK Hertfordshire and Rennie Grove Peace Hospice reflect a deep and genuine commitment to supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Maria has been a valued and respected leader within Quantum Care, and her contribution over the years has been considerable. We thank her for everything she has given to the organisation and the sector, and we wish her all the very best for a happy and well-deserved retirement.

Last week, residents at Courtland Lodge Care Home in Watford enjoyed a wonderful visit from Gemini Fashion, bringing a shopping experience right to their doorstep. 👗🛍️

The mobile shop was set up in the home’s Best Friend Diner, where residents were invited to browse a wide selection of clothing at their leisure. The event proved to be a great success, with many residents purchasing new items and enjoying the opportunity to refresh their wardrobes.

Visits like this provide a fantastic and accessible way to enjoy a much-loved activity in a comfortable and familiar setting.

On Saturday, residents at Beane River View Care Home in Hertford got into the Easter spirit with several rounds of the classic egg and spoon race! 🐣🥄

There was no shortage of competition as both residents and staff did their very best to keep their eggs balanced, with plenty of laughs along the way. It turns out steady hands and a good sense of humour are the real winning combination! A fantastic time was had by all, with lots of smiles and great sportsmanship.
