The final talented apprenticeship, we are highlighting as part of National Apprenticeship Week is Beth.

Beth is in her second year of a Physiotherapy Apprenticeship at University of Essex, combining university study with hands-on clinical experience.

"The apprenticeship route has been a perfect fit for me. It allows me to learn and earn, but also to apply what you've learnt almost immediately. I would suggest the apprenticeship route to anyone as it allows me to pursue my dream of becoming a physiotherapist, receive great teaching from both my workplace mentor and university and has provided me with a brilliant support network from my course mates too."

Most roles have apprentice qualifications linked to them either for development in your role or for career development. Find out more: https://www.hct.nhs.uk/careers-with-us

Celebrating as part of National Apprenticeship Week!

Meet Tamer, who joined our Integrated Care Co-ordination hub in January 2026 as part of his Business Management & Administration T Level course, attending one day a week to complete his placement hours.

"I've been really enjoying my time so far, learning about different aspects of the hub and meeting new people," says Tamer.

Tamer has grown in confidence, working on our blood line where he speaks confidently to patients booking appointments, redirecting calls and confirming information. One of the Hub leads complimented him saying he sounded "friendly and helpful" on the phone.

He has attended various meetings and particularly enjoyed the HertsHelp session we ran promoting awareness of supporting patients with non-medical issues. Tamer is looking forward to learning more activity in the hub and gaining a greater understanding of the elements related to back-office work in the NHS.

We work with local colleges to support Health and Business T Level students. For placement opportunities, visit our Careers With Us page: https://www.hct.nhs.uk/careers-with-us

T Levels combine classroom learning with practical workplace experience, helping young people develop the skills they need for their future careers.

This National Apprenticeship Week, we're celebrating our apprentices who are earning while learning!
Laura is in her second year of a podiatry apprenticeship with University of East London.
She said: "You don't have the massive burden of paying tuition fees and you get the benefits of a salary and an NHS pension. You can do it as a mature student and get a degree at the end of it."
Most of Laura's fellow apprentices are in their 30s and 40s with families. Her message? "The juggle between working and studying can be hard but it is also very rewarding."

Meet Monica Rodriguez, one of our Speech and Language Therapy Degree Apprentices!

Why she chose an apprenticeship:
✨ Progress while staying in work
✨ Earn while learning
✨ Gain qualification without leaving clinical practice

The benefits:
💙 Learning "clicks" faster
💙 Apply theory directly into practice
💙 Build confidence earlier than expected
💙 Ongoing mentoring and support

Monica's honest advice: "The apprenticeship is demanding but rewarding. Stay organised, set boundaries, and recognise when you need support."

It's National Apprenticeship Week and we're sharing inspiring apprentice stories!

Sam Sheridan qualified as an Occupational Therapist in September 2025 after completing a degree apprenticeship, 16 years after leaving education.

She said: "Being able to earn while learning made achieving a degree possible without the financial strain of full-time study. The apprenticeship route has truly changed my career and my life."

Sam's advice? "With the right support and determination, it's never too late to learn and achieve your dreams."

❗️We understand that recent infant formula recalls may be causing worry for parents and carers.

Batches from brands including Aptamil, Cow & Gate and SMA have been recalled.

If you have formula at home, check the batch code as affected products may still be in your cupboard. If you have an affected batch:
✅ Stop using it
✅ Return it to the store for a replacement
✅ You can switch to another batch or brand

If formula was prescribed, speak to a pharmacist or doctor first.

If you have already fed one of the recalled formulas to your baby and are concerned about symptoms, contact your GP or call NHS 111.

We were really pleased to welcome two Hertfordshire MPs recently to see some of our services in action 😊

Alistair Strathern and Kevin Bonavia for Stevenage visited our Urgent Care Coordination Hub in Stevenage, where they met staff and took a closer look at the remote monitoring kit used as part of our Hospital at Home service — helping people get the care they need while staying at home.

Led by our Chief Medical Officer, Dr Elizabeth Kendrick, the visit also included a stop at our staff wellbeing service, which supports colleagues across our organisation.

In the afternoon, the MPs headed to Lonsdale School in Stevenage to sit in on a mental health workshop delivered by our SEND Mental Health Support Team, and to meet some of the young people who benefit from this trailblazing service.

A big thank you to everyone involved for making the visits so positive 💙

We've launched a new electric vehicle (EV) charging station for staff at Peace Children’s Centre.🌱

The two charging points support staff who use electric vehicles, enabling greener travel to and from the centre and helping to reduce transport-related carbon emissions.

Director of Integrated Business Services, Antonia Robson said: "By installing a charging point at Peace Children’s Centre, we’re making it easier for staff to choose more sustainable ways to travel while directly supporting our Green Plan.

"It’s a practical step forward that benefits our staff, our services, and the environment, and we’re excited to explore further opportunities at other sites in the future.”

Our Green Plan sets how we aim to achieve our ambition to become net zero.
