Today we had a visit from Annie and Marci our weekly Pet therapy that brings joy and smile to our lovely residents and staff 🐶❤️🥰

Today we dressed the dolls we had washed. Did some indoor gardening. Had visits with honey the dog. Did some nails and. group quiz. Went for a walk around the allotment and we celebrated Michael’s birthday 🎉🎂❤️

This week we painted bird houses tried out the light up switch board, had our nails painted, read some magasines.we had some wine and chocolate, did some jigsaws, started making valantine cards and decorated some cakes. Read to some residents in their rooms and managed a walk outside doging the ice!

A quiet day but busy with our nail pampers, pet therapy. Everyone is having quiz this afternoon to promote memory and communication. Pets always make them happy ❤️🐶

About Us

‘Landona House is an independent, small, family run Care Home for 40 Older People. My husband and I bought Landona House in April 2004. Since then we have worked tirelessly to improve the home in every way imaginable. We provide Long term, Intermediate, Respite and Day Care services. We are a residential home but now specialize in Dementia (EMI) Care. Our Resident’s needs range from simple housekeeping aid to intensive 24 hour specialist one on one care. We combine a style of good old fashioned common sense and the latest modern professional techniques. 90% of prospective residents who come to look around Landona end up coming to stay with us on a permanent basis. Our goal is to be the best care home in Shropshire’!

Our Philosophy

‘Our philosophy of care is based on our wish to create an atmosphere of total comfort, safety, care and support which enables and encourages our residents to live as full, varied, interesting and independent a lifestyle as possible. We endeavor to promote choice and to respect each individual resident’s values, privacy and dignity. We do not discriminate against residents on the grounds of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age or disability. Our care is second to none because we genuinely care about everyone within the Landona family’.

Our Staff

‘Our staff team is the single most important element within our home. They set the standards of care and create the atmosphere that a home needs. It is they that make our residents feel safe, happy, engaged and most importantly loved. This starts with us the owners and Pauline but is ultimately delivered by our amazing team. It has taken us over 15 years but we finally have team that we can be very proud of. Our incredibly low staff turnover is proof that we have a happy team. This is so very key to our residents and families who need to see a face they know and trust’.

All 30 of our staff have a set list of mandatory training, which must be completed before starting their job role. This is part of a thorough induction stage, which includes a full Criminal Record Bureau (CRB) check. We believe that each member of the staff has a certain skill set, and we try to use that and channel them in that direction. We strongly believe that a carer should be able to concentrate on care. Activities staff should be dedicated to just activities. A cleaner should be able to clean, the kitchen to cook, and so on. Having said this, we train all of our staff to do all jobs so firstly, they can all work together as a team and secondly, so that we are never short staffed in any area of our care.

No agency and all local

We encourage staff training as much as possible by paying staff for their time and for the training itself. A schedule of refresher courses is then put in place to ensure that learning is always up-to-date and available.

So please come and visit us to feel our truly unique home. Just drop in any time for a quick tour and a chat. The kettle is always on and there is always freshly baked cake ready for you!
