Nottingham MS Therapy Centre - The Oxygen Centre

Nottingham MS Therapy Centre - The Oxygen Centre (home of the MS Therapy Centre) therapies include Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy & much more.

Registered charity helping the people of Notts & surrounding areas for over 40 years. The Nottingham MS Therapy Centre was established in 1984 solely for people with multiple sclerosis and everyone connected with them. Over the last few years hyperbaric oxygen has been shown to offer beneficial results to people with many other health conditions, including cancers, injuries, and for children with

cerebral palsy or autism. We feel our new name reflects this and it has the full support of our many members with MS. Our charity remains the Nottingham MS Therapy Centre but our open membership welcomes and supports people with other health conditions. We are now known as the Nottingham Oxygen Centre (home of the MS Therapy Centre)

Chronic fatigue & brain fog are the two most common symptoms we see at The Oxygen Centre. Whatever your condition, if you live with either symptom it can have a huge impact on your day to day life.

As the only facility of our kind in Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire, we have been providing this wonderful therapy to those who need it, since 1984. As a registered charity, our motivation is led by the wellbeing of our members & not by how much money the boss makes.

With 40 years' experience and a wealth of knowledge to draw from, why not take charge of your condition today and get in touch.

The Nottingham MS Therapy Centre, aka The Oxygen Centre, has been providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the people of Nottinghamshire and surrounding counties, since 1984. We accept self-referrals from people with many conditions other than multiple sclerosis. If in doubt, drop us a line.

For the last 40 years, we have been providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to the people of Notts & surrounding areas. We pressurise our chambers to between 1.5ata (atmospheres absolute) & 2ata & up to 98% pure oxygen is breathed in via a mask. The pressure allows the body to absorb more oxygen, potentially up to approx 10 times in an hour (at 2ata).

The body uses oxygen constantly to grow & heal so logical dictates that higher concentration of oxygen, the faster the benefits.

The statement below warns of the many private facilities offering HBOT to “heal” this & that. We’ll leave you to make up your own mind.

In our hyperbaric oxygen chambers you’ll be breathing in 96-98% pure oxygen under pressure ranging from 1.5ATA to 2ATA (below 1.45ATA is considered ‘mild oxygen therapy’ & ‘misleading’, by the British Hyperbaric Association).

Do you have a few hours to spare each week? We are looking for friendly, outgoing people to help us continue to provide wonderful therapies in a supportive environment. We have various roles open at the moment: hyperbaric oxygen chambers operators currently needed Tuesdays & Thursdays during the day while the other posts will be a mixture of at home with occasional meetings. Can you help?

Can you spare a few hours each week to help us? We are looking for volunteers to join our small, friendly charity so we can continue to help the people of Notts, and surrounding areas.

This year marks our 40th year of providing hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to people with multiple sclerosis, long covid, fibromyalgia, CFS/ME, cancer and many other chronic health conditions. Our Centre has grown each year as word of the benefits of HBOT spreads resulting in the need to grow our team of wonderful volunteers.

We have volunteer opportunities in a variety of roles such as:

* Chamber operators
* Trustees
* Event organisation
* Administration

If you think you can help us, and you'd like to join our friendly team and wonderful members, please visit our website and tell us about yourself https://www.theoxygencentre.org.uk/opportunities. We'll give you a call and arrange a time for you to call in for a cuppa.

Please share this post to help us spread the word. Thank you.

It’s International Women’s Day today so we thought it would be nice to share a picture or story about a woman who inspired/inspires you.

Here’s mine:

Those of you who were around before the pandemic will remember Maureen, our previous manager. Maureen managed the Centre for around 13 years and touched so many people with her kind & caring approach. As well as being a wonderful manager, Maureen was also my mum.

My mum had it hard, being a single parent to myself & my brother from when I was 2. She worked hard her entire life to ensure that we were provided for and raised well, and this attitude to family extended to the many foster kids who passed through our doors. Mum was a residential social worker & adult careers guidance officer before entering the voluntary sector, a place where her compassion would really shine through.

My mum taught me that anything is possible, including doing far too much when you should really be ‘pacing yourself’ 😄. She is missed by many every single day.

P.s. sorry if I made any of you who knew Maureen cry.
