How does a colon hydrotherapy treatment work? 💦
Colonics are a long time way of clearing out your body, and it's often seen as an embarrassing thing, largely down to how they have historically been portrayed in the media. But it's actually a very normal, and very effective way to tackle symptoms like excess gas, bloating and IBS.
In terms of the actual treatment, it isn't dirty, it doesn't smell and you don't have to look at what is exiting your body (to clear up a few misconceptions!)
A very small speculum is inserted (1.5/2 inches) so that we can insert the tube, and you won't feel any discomfort. The most you'll feel is some very mild cramping for a few seconds at a time but this doesn't always happen.
Water will be inserted through the tube to flush out old faecal matter, dislodge trapped gas and more. We'll monitor what is happening, adjust the treatment as needed and add tinctures to the water if needed to tackle different issues.
Once we're happy that the water is coming back clear and any waste has left, we'll end the treatment.
Your colon hydrotherapy treatment will last around 40-45 minutes. Once the nerves subside, most people find it very relaxing!
