This week is Healthcare Science Week and we are celebrating the work of all our healthcare scientists.

Healthcare science plays a vital role in the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease and the health of our population.

Healthcare scientists are highly diverse and work in more than 50 specialisms within the NHS. At the Trust, we have healthcare scientists working in various departments, including Audiology.

If you are interested in a career in healthcare science, please visit the National School of Healthcare Science –

The NSHCS has national responsibility for the management of the educational framework for training and development of healthcare scientists across more than 40 specialties in the NHS.

Nominations for our Patient's Choice Award are now open!

Have you or a loved one received excellent care and support over the last 12 months at the Trust?

Our Patient's Choice Award is voted for by the public, and recognises a team or individual who has demonstrated compassion and kindness in the care they have provided to you or a family member.

Last year’s winners were the critical care team, who were nominated by the family of a patient who sadly passed away in 2024.

In their nomination, a family member said their sister was treated with dignity and respect, and that the team reduced their stress and anxiety by ensuring that the family understood complex medical information and were involved in every decision regarding her treatment.

If you would like to nominate a team or individual for this award, you can complete a nomination form online by visiting the link below:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/patients-choice-award-26

The deadline to submit a nomination form is 13 March.

The award will be handed out at our annual staff recognition event, the Star Awards, on 10 July.

Industrial action is taking place tomorrow, and we understand this may cause worry if you or someone you care for needs treatment.

We’ve put plans in place to keep disruption to a minimum and ensure safe care continues throughout the day.

If you have an appointment:
• If you haven’t heard from us, please attend as normal.
• If your appointment needs to be cancelled or rearranged, we will contact you directly.

If you need care:
• Our emergency services remain open.
• Please use NHS services wisely so we can help those who need urgent care most.

Where to get the right support:
• Visit your local pharmacist for quick advice on minor illnesses.
• Contact your GP practice for non-urgent concerns.
• Use an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) for sprains, minor burns, or suspected broken bones.
• Not sure what to do? Call NHS 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk for guidance.

In a life-threatening emergency, always call 999 or go to A&E.
