: Birmingham City Council have issued this statement:

Cases of Covid-19 are rising significantly across and if the numbers continue, the Government could impose a local lockdown across the city. We must take immediate steps now and follow all Government advice to help contain the spread of this virus.

A Spitfire plane with ‘Thank U NHS’ written on its wings is set to fly over New Cross Hospital tomorrow (Tuesday) at 10.45am.

Keep your eyes peeled and please remember to maintain social distancing at all times

All of our redeployed staff due to COVID-19 health crisis 🚨 🦠 are back home where they belong! Very proud of all of our stars ⭐️ who moved work areas for the greater good- but we’re so pleased to have everyone back together.

If you're visiting our parks, you must observe social distancing rules.

🏋️‍♂️❌ Please do not use play equipment or outdoor gyms for your own safety

⚽️🏏❌ You must not play team sports or socialise with people from outside your household

🚴‍♂️🏃‍♀️❌Please keep your distance if you’re running or on a bike, and let others pass

😷❌Please do not visit our parks if you are suffering with coronavirus symptoms

🎣❌ Fishing is not allowed at our parks and other green spaces under the government's rules.

Our parks are great places – please enjoy them and make sure you stay at least 2 metres away from other people.

When you have finished your exercise, please go straight home.

This will help to keep everyone safe. Thank you ❤️

Please be aware of the closures in the Sandwell area

Some Sandwell Council buildings will close from tomorrow (19 March) and events will be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Council offices at Smethwick, Rowley, Wednesbury and Tipton will close and staff will be redeployed.

Smethwick Council House and Wednesbury Town Hall are also closed.

West Bromwich Local (based at Court House) and Oldbury Local (based at Sandwell Council House) will remain open.

Sandwell Park Farm and Forge Mill Farm, museums and some libraries, will also close.

Public spaces such as local parks and Sandwell Valley currently remain open to the public.
