Unlock Your Strength - Simple Moves for Better Fitness

At our chiropractic clinic, we’re all about helping you stay fit, functional, and feeling fantastic. 💪 Let’s talk about compound movements, exercises that engage multiple muscles, improve strength, and boost functional fitness.

Here are three we recommend: the squat, plank, and press-up.

1. Squat – Your Strength Foundation
Squats do more than strengthen your legs – they target your glutes, lower back, and core, helping improve posture and reduce back strain.

How to do it

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, arms out for balance.
Lower yourself as if sitting in a chair, keeping your back flat and knees behind your toes.
Squeeze your glutes and tummy as you rise.
Start unweighted, then progress to using dumbbells or a barbell. Front squats (barbell in front) are great for activating your core while protecting your back.

2. Plank – Build Core Stability
A strong core supports your spine and improves balance.

How to do it

In a press-up or forearm position, keep your body straight from head to heels.
Squeeze your glutes and pull in your tummy.
Hold for 30 seconds, building up to longer as you get stronger.
This simple move strengthens your abs, pelvic floor, and back.

3. Press-Up – Upper Body Power
Press-ups work your chest, shoulders, arms, and core.

How to do it

Start on your knees or toes.
Lower your chest towards the floor, keeping your back straight and core tight.
Push back up.
Begin with 10–12 reps and progress as you build strength.

Why It Matters
Strength training helps improve posture, prevent injuries, and even supports bone health. Aim to include these exercises 2–3 times a week, and remember, form is key!
