Today is Guru Purnima, a sacred day dedicated to honoring and expressing gratitude to our spiritual teachers and guides.

Guru Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day in the Hindu month of Ashadha, and is a time to reflect on the importance of having a mentor or guru in our lives. The word โ€œguruโ€ means one who dispels darkness and leads us from ignorance to knowledge.

Our gurus play a crucial role in our spiritual journey, guiding us towards self-realization and helping us connect with our higher selves. They provide us with wisdom, knowledge, and support as we navigate the challenges of life.

On this auspicious day, let us take a moment to express our gratitude to our gurus and mentors, and to recognize the profound impact they have had on our lives. May we continue to learn from their teachings and strive to embody the qualities of love, compassion, and wisdom that they impart.

SUMMER SOLSTICE - LITHA
๐ŸŒž๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ’ง๐ŸŒพ

โ™‹๏ธ With the Sun entering Cancer, a Cardinal water sign, the summer season begins. The Solstice marks the triumph of Father Sun, the bringer of life, light, and warmth, to which Mother Earth responds, nourishing and content, with all her abundance, beauty, and richness.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Solstice traditions involve lighting bonfires around which people used to gather to celebrate the arrival of summer.

๐ŸŒพ Another very ancient and rooted tradition is the gathering of St. Johnโ€™s herbs.
Plants collected on this day were believed to have almost miraculous powers. In particular, solar energy is concentrated in yellow flowers like marigold or St. Johnโ€™s wort, known as the herb of good mood for its beneficial antidepressant effects.

The water element also plays an important role on this magical day, as the solstice coincides with the Sun entering the sign of Cancer, ruled by the Moon.
Solstice water is represented by the โ€œSt. Johnโ€™s dew,โ€ which is attributed magical powers such as regrowing hair, rejuvenating skin, or even promoting fertility.

๐ŸŒŸ In the Celtic Wheel of the Year, the name of this celebration is Litha (named after the Saxon goddess of the harvest), which also reminds us of the agricultural cycle centered on cereals.

To celebrate Litha, we can do very simple things. For example, we can rise at dawn and observe the rising sun, meditating on its qualities and its destiny: the maximum strength coincides with the beginning of its decline. We can bathe in the precious solstice dew. We can gather the solstice herbs in the moment of maximum light, at noon, and keep them as lucky charms. Our ancestors used to hang bunches of St. Johnโ€™s wort on their doorways for protection, and indeed its Greek name hyperikon means โ€œto protect.โ€
At sunrise, we can greet the sun by saying:
โ€œHail to you, oh Sun, on the day of your triumph!โ€

๐ŸŒบ As we come together to celebrate the Spring Equinox, also known as Oestara, we honor the delicate balance between light and dark that heralds the arrival of a new season. This time marks a period of transition, where we embrace the increasing light and warmth that bring forth new growth and vitality to the world around us.

Oestara represents a time of renewal, where nature awakens from its winter slumber, and all that was once dormant begins to stir with potential and promise. Symbolized by the rainbow, this season invites us to let go of the old, break free from limitations, and step into a world teeming with possibilities and colors.

Traditionally, the Spring Equinox has been associated with the celebration of youthful deities like Persephone-Kore and Pan, embodying themes of innocence, creativity, and fertility. This is a time where we witness the dance between the maiden goddess and the youthful god, symbolizing the emergence of new life and the energy of transformation.

To honor Oestara, we can engage in simple yet meaningful acts that align with the energy of the season. From decluttering our spaces to planting seeds, immersing ourselves in nature, and engaging in creative endeavors, we can embrace the essence of renewal and growth that this time offers. By connecting with the rhythms of nature and setting intentions for the coming season, we can invite abundance, joy, and a sense of rebirth into our lives. After a couple of months of neglecting my daily practice, I finally found the motivation to begin again and be consistent. ๐ŸŒˆ
