Aloe Vera Kills 50% of Cervical Cancer Cells: In this just-published study, aloe vera extract was shown to be highly toxic to human cervical cancer cells, killing up to 50% of them in vitro by inducing programmed cell death. Aloe vera has also shown activity against colon, lung, prostate and pancreatic cancers in lab studies. What makes aloe vera so powerful? It contains several cancer-fighting compounds such as aloin, emodin and alosin. It also contains potent antioxidants and immune stimulating compounds which are responsible for its many other health benefits. Aloe vera has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine to treat burns and sunburns, aid in wound healing, and support the immune system. Recent research has confirmed many of these benefits as well as aloe’s potent antibacterial properties (aloe used in both mouthwash and toothpaste has been shown to fight plaque build-up in recent clinical trials). It’s also been tested in multiple trials as a treatment for radiation dermatitis (it works). And most impressively: it’s already been used on real cancer patients in clinical trials. In one trial, cancer patients taking aloe vera in addition to chemo felt better, had more 3 times more remissions, and lived significantly longer than the patients just taking chemo.
