Do you think that your alcohol intake is all you need to be concerned about for your liver health?

Think again.

When a client asks me about weight loss, they get a brief run down on what can make it easier to release the stored energy that's stuffed into all areas of the body, not just the fat cells under the skin. This leads to less frustration as to why things don't seem to be "shifting".

There is a rapid rate of growth in a disease you may see written as NAFLD
(Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease)

This is created by 🔑 Insulin resistance
This is the core driver behind NAFLD. When cells stop responding properly to insulin:
Glucose builds up in the blood
The liver turns excess sugar into fat
Fat accumulates in liver cells, leading to steatosis (fatty liver)

A few things that you can do to help support your liver straight away.

1. Incorporate some intermittent fasting or a 24 hour fast once a week to let it have a rest.

2. Reduce your fruit and sugar intake (including pasta, rice, bread) and make sure that theres a balance of good fats and proteins in each meal you have. (Check out my free FRIDGE BUDDY on my website - link in profile)

3. Introduce lots of leafy greens such as broccoli, kale, and spinach. Make sure it's all washed well to get rid of chemicals. Chop your veg up about 30 mins before cooking to release helpful compounds. Onions and garlic are great too.

4. Movement that matters; A walk in the evening or moving your body for at least 15 minutes helps to increase insulin sensitivity. We become more insulin resistant as the day progresses so get smart with when you eat carbs.

You can also consider herbal remedies such as milk thistle or dandelion root. The liver loves bitter foods.

We are up against a chemical war and our liver needs more love than ever.

When we stop treating it like landfill we can significantly reduce our risk of many chronic diseases.

I sometimes think back to my days as a teenager…

Excited to get my Saturday job pay packet and head down to the local shopping centre to meet my friends and pour over the sweet smelling cosmetics from the big names in Boots.

I’m an advertising executive’s dream.

Seduced by the sensory experience, the packaging, and the carrier bag, I didn’t think for a minute what creams and lotions were doing to my young body, specifically my hormones.

We aren’t educated enough to know that what we put on our skin is absorbed directly into our bloodstream.

Since Ms Menopause moved in, I got myself educated about what my body needs vs what I actually want.

Today, I don’t care about the big perfume and cosmetic houses and their plethora of products claiming to make me look much younger.

Today I care about supporting my skin with what is kind and nourishing.

Your wish to lose weight as you age is hampered by hormone disrupting chemicals but most PTs or diet clubs won’t educate you about this.

What do you know about the debilitating female health disorder, endometriosis?

Excruciating pelvic pain
Painful inter course
Migraine headaches
Excessive blood loss
Sleeplessness

…and the list continues

As a young woman, I suffered month to month with a miserable 10 days of before and during my period. In comparison to some women I met last night, I figure I got off lucky.

To get diagnosed formally, it can take up to 9 years!

And surgery rarely helps long term.

After years of suffering, many women turn to a full hysterectomy for relief, only to be plunged into the life stage of menopause.

When we are told “there is no cure” about something, hopelessness and isolation can kick in.

I’m here to tell you that this doesn’t need to be the case.

A holistic health / life audit can help you identify what can elevate your well-being and take down some of the things that can exacerbate symptoms. Our food, herbs, oils and lifestyle change can be our medicine if we are willing to take a 360 degrees approach.
