We have a bid for food growing for the community in the regular PB and we have a bid in the Community Wealth Building PB for our Garden Haven build.

There’s also a lot of other really great projects in our area to vote for. You get 3 votes in each section!

A big thanks to everyone who has already taken a few minutes to do this consultation for us.
We need to have a much higher number of views and want to hear from a good cross section of the community. Please fill it out and share with friends and family.
We will be closing it next week.

If you’re passing by the garden next week on Monday or Wednesday between 10-1 we can chat to you and show you the site, answer your questionsw and capture your views on the iPad.

Today’s pretty lil harvest that will be heading up to the The Village Larder.
The volunteers, and Sarah and myself braved the rain today to harvest and tidy the garden. We weren’t in much of a hurry to get home as it was a nice session despite the weather!

Well done to both the The Village Larder team and the Community Roots Garden for our visit with Councillors Marie Burns and Elaine Wright from NAC Fairer Food today!
Also a special shout out to Brenna our resident doggy SHED mascot for stealing the show!

Working in partnerships with the council and other local organisations is something we are proud of. From the pandemic support at our roots to The Village Larder and Community Roots Garden as they are now, we have always been proud of this.

It was our first time meeting Coubcillor Marie Burns and we really enjoyed showing her around. Thanks for coming to visit us!

We have a glut of mixed beans at the Community Roots Garden this week as well as some beautiful purple curly kale! Our beans are a beautiful mix of purples and greens and will liven up your Autumn stews. We love purple varieties of vegetables as they are pretty to look at in the garden but also packed with antioxidents.

The good news is that the The Village Larder fridge is full this week so we have more than we can use.

Our garden will be open 10-1 on Wednesday if you would like to take a bag of either away and leave a small donation (if you can afford to). Visitors and volunteers are always welcome on our drop-in days Monday 10-1 and Wednesday 10-1- unless the weather is awful in which case we will be working in the polytunnel offsite.

Any donations will go straight back into our project so that we can grow more beautiful veg next year.

🪏A great deal has been achieved in 3 years at the Community Roots Garden! We thought you’d like to see what we have achieved and preview what we are building for the future. 👨‍🌾 🫶

Our Garden Haven build begins in October! Which is somewhere we can combine the work of our Village Larder and SHED social gardening group, with our aims to improve wellbeing, environment and community learning.
