New counselling room pending. Ive been really busy recently moving things around and building a buisness.

Having ADHD always has me on the go, always wanting everything perfect and putting high amounts of pressure on myself to get things done ASAP.

In the past this has caused me stress and anxiety and has impacted on such things as my appetite, my physical and mental health and my relationships.

Doing personal development has helped slow things down and remind myself... it doesn't always have to be perfect and I am enough!

There's nothing wrong with being productive but it was also important for me to find a healthy ballance were I can relax knowing I still have more to work on rather than burning myself out wanting it to be done too soon.

I shall be back shortly.... I wish you all well and just a reminder that you are strong, valued and enough.

My name is Anthony Wood, and I am the owner and C.E.O of a phew services ltd. I am a fully qualified counsellor. I have years of experience in many different aspects of complex mental health. I have worked with both children and adults within schools, hospitals, agencies, and charities providing mental health services. I run both youth and adult groups, programs and training throughout the year and have a lot of experience with client work.

I understand that taking the first steps to begin counselling may be daunting for some and that is why I prioritize the need for a warm, non-judgmental, empathic, and confidential environment that provides you with a safe space to talk openly about your thoughts, feelings and experience of life.

I facilitate your needs whether it be home visits, online sessions, walking therapy or my counselling rooms based on the Wirral. I can work with ages starting from 12 upwards and welcome anyone to access my services.

Qualifications in counselling:

I am fully qualified as an integrative counsellor which means I can use different types of approaches, but I will always start the session person centred. This means to build trust and a working relationship, I let the client lead me into their experience and let them prioritise their concerns while listening and asking open questions when needed. This technique helps the client to start to answer their own questions and solutions while listening and helping you reflect and explore your past or present problems. After a few sessions we will work together to agree what counselling approach would be most beneficial and appropriate and we work towards progress, growth and closure.

I can offer help with the following subjects:

Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Bereavement, Loss, Abuse, Health related issues, confidence and Self-esteem, Co-parenting, relationship issues, work related issues, stress, trauma, social media, Peer pressure, School problems, Self-harming or suicidal thoughts, overthinking, negative thoughts, phobias, adictions, Neurodiversity, Infertility, personal development, acceptance, self-image, and identity issues.

Sometimes it's easier to talk to a stranger than to relatives or friends.

During talking therapy, a trained counsellor or therapist listens to you and helps you find your own answers to problems, without judging you.

The therapist will give you time to talk, cry, shout or just think. It's an opportunity to look at your problems in a different way with someone who will respect you and your opinions.

Although there are lots of different types of talking therapy, they all have a similar aim: to help you feel better. Some people say that talking therapies don't make their problems go away, but they find it easier to cope with them and feel happier.

If you would like to access PHEW counselling for talking therapy call today on 0151 203 4455 or visit www.aphewservices.co.uk

I offer a free 20minitue consultation so we can talk about why you wish to access counselling support and if I am the right counsellor for you.

Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs is one of the best-known theories of motervation. Maslow's theory states that our actions are motivated by certain physiological and psychological needs that progress from basic to complex.

Maslow believed that people have an inborn desire to be self-actualized, that is, to be all they can be. To achieve this ultimate goal, however, a number of more basic needs must be met. This includes the need for food, safety, love, and self-esteem.

Please note this is not advice as a therapist, but as a personal opinion, I found this theory a great tool that I have used when feeling unfulfilled.

This helped me explore along with my last post about the brain chemicals in order to understand what I may have been lacking or what I may have been trying to gain. This helped with my personal development as I acknowledged some negitive behaviours that I became more self aware of.

What are your thoughts on this theory?

As a part of personal development I like to learn about how my brain works.

So, what’s the relationship between brain and mood? This is what I found....

The brain controls the release of certain chemicals called neurotransmitters which communicate with other areas of the brain to stimulate or calm us. This then has influence on our mood, emotions and behaviour.

A chemical imbalance, is when you’re making either too much or too little of certain neurotransmitters.

This would be out of my proficiency to comment on treatment or advice but I found it really helpful to understand what chemicals I get from certain activities.

Vulnerability is the only way to get to know our authentic selves. It opens the path to growth and gives us the courage to fight the need to please others and focus on our well-being. Vulnerability helps us bring to light all our emotions and process them without resistance.

When are you most vunrable and how does it make you feel?
