Have your say on public transport accessibility

In the first ever survey focusing on public transport accessibility for people who are deaf or have hearing loss in the UK, the Royal National Institute for the Deaf (RNID) is urging hard of hearing and deaf people to share their experiences.

The survey is part of a major project, funded by the Motability Foundation, which aims to understand the barriers faced by people who are deaf or have hearing loss when using public transport.

Findings from the project will be used to develop a detailed report and recommendations for transport providers, policymakers and technology companies, as well as informing our future work with these organisations.

Be quick you have until 13 April to have your say. Access the survey here: https://emea.focusvision.com/survey/selfserve/4545/260205?list=8 #?

Planning a trip away this Easter?

If you’re travelling with hearing aids, here are a few quick packing tips to make sure you’ve got everything covered.

▪️ Spare batteries and charger: Never leave home without backups!
▪️ Cleaning kit: Keeping your hearing aids clean on the go helps them work at their best.
▪️ Dehumidifier: If you’re travelling to humid places, a small portable dehumidifier is handy for keeping moisture away.
▪️ Storage case: A sturdy case will keep your hearing aids safe when you’re not using them.
▪️ Extra parts: If your hearing aids have parts that wear out easily, like wax guards or tubes, bring spares.

Travelling with hearing aids doesn't have to be complicated. Keep the essentials packed, use the available tech, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it. Safe travels!

A patient brought in a gorgeous bunch of flowers just recently, to say thank you for helping them with their hearing aids. Such a thoughtful and kind gesture.

But most of all… there is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone regain their confidence through better hearing, enabling them to lead more independent lives through the power of connection.

If you are looking for advice about your hearing or maybe you want to know how hearing aids can help you stay part of the conversation – get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.

Did you know hearing loss can affect your balance? 👂

The inner ear controls both hearing and stability, helping the brain understand movement and orientation. When hearing declines, spatial awareness and coordination can also be affected.

In fact, even mild hearing loss can triple the risk of falls in older adults. If you’re feeling unsteady on your feet or experiencing dizziness or vertigo, it may be worth checking your hearing.

We’re always happy to offer friendly advice and help you take the first step towards better hearing health.

Your hearing – your choice. 👂

Working independently, I’ve got the advantage of not being tied to one specific brand or supplier.

That means when I sit down with you to talk about their hearing health, I can take the time to understand your lifestyle and your budget. Once we’ve chatted this through, I can recommend the hearing technology that genuinely suits you best.

Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, I can provide tailored advice and show you a wide range of hearing technology so that together we can find the solution that works best for you and your pocket.

Celebrating neurodiversity

Neurodiversity Week this month is a reminder that the way we experience the world is not the same for everyone.

Gradual hearing loss can quietly disconnect people from conversations and the social world around them, leading to isolation and withdrawal. In a different way, autism and ADHD can also create barriers to social connection.

The good news is that support and technology are improving all the time. If you or someone you know is following conversations is becoming harder a simple hearing check could make all the difference.

This Mother’s Day, celebrate the voices, and the moments that matter.

Hearing wellbeing plays a big part in staying connected. Today’s hearing aids are smaller, smarter and more discreet than ever, helping people enjoy those everyday moments more fully. 🌸

This Mother’s Day let’s celebrate the gift of hearing and staying connected. 💐

We’d love to hear from you

“I saw Samatha for my annual hearing check and to upgrade my hearing aids. My hearing loss is quite severe. After all her kind care, patience and understanding, Samantha helped me find the right upgrade. Nothing is too much trouble for her. In my opinion, she really does give a service second to none.” Julie Hanson

If you’ve had a great experience with our hearing care, leaving a review really helps. Your feedback not only means a lot to us, it also helps others who may be looking for trusted support with their hearing. Thank you for helping us spread the word. ⭐

With International Women’s Day on the horizon (8 March) I thought I would do some research of my own looking at pioneering women in history.

I came across Gertrude Ederle an Olympic champion swimmer and world record holder, who despite suffering from partial hearing loss, overcame her personal challenges to become the first woman to swim across the English Channel.

To celebrate the centenary year of her epic swim, I want to encourage everyone to think about women who have inspired them. As a member of the Women In Business Network (WIBN) I meet lots of brilliant women who have carved out their own careers, created their own communities and charitable networks and encouraged others to do the same.

Let’s celebrate this group and others like it and let’s keep the conversations going so that together we can inspire the next generation.

The importance of raising awareness

March is awash with health awareness days from sleep and appreciation to happiness - and top of my list World Hearing Day on 3 March.

Hearing connects us to people, conversations, and the moments that bring joy and meaning to our lives. Protecting it isn’t just about looking after our ears - it’s about human connection, inclusion, and cognitive health.

Let’s use these awareness days to remind us to act: rest well, look after your wellbeing, take care of your teeth and most important of all to check your hearing.

Get in touch as we’d love to talk to you about your hearing health.

Hat trick

Working in healthcare means that we have to wear many hats. Here a just a few of mine…

Clinician: Assessing and monitoring hearing health
Detective: Looking out for subtle changes in your condition and identifying issues before they escalate
Therapist: Providing emotional support, and listening to patient concerns
Coach: Giving guidance to help achieve your hearing goals

Tech support: Managing hearing aid technology and exploring AI solutions that work best for you. (Thanks AI for creating my hats) 😊

These are the reasons I love my work so much, with all the variety it offers, meaning every day is different.

Which hats do you wear every day?

Come and have a chat about your hearing health and choose a hat that works for you!
