Today, we pause to honour and remember the brave men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedom. Their courage, dedication, and resilience will never be forgotten.

Let us take a moment to reflect, give thanks, and ensure their legacy lives on.

One of our supported people in the South East went all out for Halloween this year! From hunting down the creepiest decorations to keeping the candy bowls full, she made sure the night was frightfully fun. The “What’s in the Box?” game had everyone screaming (with laughter!), the pizza was endless, and those goodie bags? Totally spook-tacular!

As we light up the sky tonight, let’s remember to celebrate safely and responsibly. Fireworks are beautiful, but they can also be overwhelming for some people, especially those with learning disabilities or mental health challenges. Loud noises and bright flashes can trigger anxiety, stress, or sensory overload.

Here’s how we can support everyone tonight:
💛 Be mindful of noise – Give neighbours, friends, and family a heads-up if you’re setting off fireworks.
💛 Create quiet spaces – If you know someone who may feel anxious, help them find a calm, safe place away from the noise.
💛 Offer reassurance – A little understanding and patience can make a big difference.
💛 Check-in – Reach out to those who may feel vulnerable tonight; a simple message can help them feel included and safe.

Let’s make this Firework Night joyful, safe, and inclusive for all. Enjoy the sparks, the colours, and the magic, and let’s spread kindness as brightly as the fireworks!

Stay safe, celebrate responsibly, and remember: small gestures can make a huge difference.

The ghosts are out, the pumpkins are carved, and the treats are ready… Halloween is here! 🕸️🕷️ Whether you’re dressing up, trick-or-treating, or indulging in candy galore, we hope your day is filled with fun, frights, and lots of laughter.

🎃✨ Halloween is a time for fun and creativity—but for some, it can also be overwhelming. People with autism or learning disabilities may find loud noises, crowds, or unexpected surprises stressful.

Here’s how we can make Halloween more inclusive:

🎃Provide quiet or low-stimulation spaces during events.
🎃Offer predictable routines and explain any activities beforehand.
🎃Respect personal comfort levels with costumes, masks, or social interactions.
🎃Encourage alternative ways to participate, like sensory-friendly treats or crafts.

Let’s make Halloween enjoyable and safe for everyone, so all our friends can join in the fun! 🎃💛

Some of our supported people from the South East headed to THORPE PARK Official for Fright Night! They had an amazing time braving SAW – The Ride and exploring the spooky horror mazes. Everyone’s now well and truly in the Halloween spirit - and of course, no trip would be complete without a stop at the Donut Factory for an enormous ice cream!

The world is going through a tough time right now, and even if you’re not directly affected by current events, it can still feel like a lot to cope with. Remember it’s always okay to ask for help, no matter what you or anyone else is going through.

On Friday 10th October, some of our supported people spent the day doing things that make them happy and help support their wellbeing:

Some went to the gym with their team to boost their mental health, some went for a walk and talk with their team and some did some retail therapy

Taking time for yourself whether it’s getting outside, moving your body, or connecting with others can make a big difference to how you feel.

If you’re struggling with your mental health, remember you’re not alone. You can call Mind’s Support Line on 0300 102 1234 for help and advice.

🌍💚 World Mental Health Day – October 10 💚🌍

Today, we pause to recognize the importance of mental health for everyone, everywhere. Mental health isn’t just about challenges- it’s about well-being, balance, and connection.

✨ Remember:

It’s okay to not be okay.

Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Small steps- like listening, checking in, or taking a break - can make a huge difference.

Let’s break the stigma, support one another, and create a world where mental health is valued as much as physical health. 💙

📢 Take action today: Reach out to someone, practice self-care, or simply start a conversation about mental health. Every voice counts.

On the 1st of October The South East celebrated Nigerian Independence Day. This has now become an annual celebration for the South East to promote celebrating all of our staff who come from Nigeria. Adefunke cooked some amazing dishes for everyone one to try. Chidi made sure everyone was up and dancing to the Afrobeat music. Everyone had a great night.
