Our residents recently took part in a new horse racing game called “Hold Your Horses.” The game involved six horse figures on the floor that would race across the room. The residents we’re divided into 6 teams, and the teams took turns rolling the dice to see how far their horse would move on each turn.

Our companion Jo started the afternoon by reading the fictional biographies and information of each horse 🐎

It was a close race but in the end, the winners were Pam and Mary who won the trophy!

Residents at Brook View recently enjoyed a delightful afternoon outing with a scenic minibus drive through the New Forest. Along the way, we were thrilled to spot ponies and donkeys roaming freely, adding a special charm to the trip.

We also stopped for tea and biscuits while taking in the sights. The peaceful countryside views and close encounters with the animals made for a truly memorable experience, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.

What a wonderful weekend we had opening our gardens for the National Garden Scheme!

Over 60 visitors joined us across two days to enjoy cake, conversation, and tours of our beautiful grounds. Together, we raised more than £600 for NGS charities — thank you to everyone who came along and supported us. 🌿

Brook View Care Home's garden has been years in the making, season by season, memory by memory. It’s where residents sip morning tea, plant new life, and simply enjoy the peace.

On 16th & 17th August, they’re opening the gates to share this space with their local community as part of the National Garden Scheme.

If you love gardens, quiet beauty, or simply a good slice of cake in a warm setting, they’d be delighted to welcome you.

Musicians Mark and Tracy came to the home to delight the residents with a memorable live performance 🎤✨

We recently held an afternoon of cider tasting: our latest in a series of tasting events in the home 🍏🍻

Our residents got to try a few different flavours of cider, including a taste of English cider as well as some from abroad. We also snacked on an assortment of treats prepared by our chef, including flapjacks, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and angel delight!

Wendy’s wish was to visit St. Marys Church in West Moors with Companion Elizabeth. Wendy watches the service from St. Marys every Sunday morning online but she hasn’t visited the church for many years.

It was a hot day, but Wendy enjoyed the 5-minute walk in her wheelchair to the church. And it was a lovely hour in the church, chatting about the past and Wendy’s involvement with her own church.

The atmosphere was full of cheerful competition, as everyone took their turn aiming for the Jack.

With skill and focus, Paula clinched the win — much to everyone’s delight 🏆

We recently granted a wish for our resident Norman, who used to spend a lot of time on boats and expressed how he would like to be on a boat again 🛥️🌊

After learning about his interest in boats, our Companion team organised a day trip to Poole Quay to visit The Friends of Dolphin who provide boat trips around Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour ☀️
