We love to support carers in our community by offering space and hospitality to be able to come together and share hints, tips and stories with each other over tea and cakes.
Stressbusters has been running for a few years and provides vital support and information in the Ferndown area. Started by a lady caring for her husband and Carol from Prama the group has gone from strength to strength. The group have speakers come along to provide information.
Yesterday's wonderful speaker Emma from Douch Family Funeral Directors who is the secretary of Ferndown dementia friendly town committee was no exception. Emma spoke passionately about how she got involved with the committee, she spoke more about how the Living Well Community Magazine started and continues to grow to provide information freely for our local community. Emma took questions and suggestions from the group to ensure this continues to be a great support for carers and those they care for in the community.

I had the pleasure of being invited along to speak at the Stress Busters Carers meeting yesterday. Within my capacity as secretary for FDFT and editor for the Living Well Community Magazine.
A full room of wonderful people who are caring for their loved ones at home. They get together to meet like minded people and learn about support that is available in their local community.
I was able to talk about the work we carry out at FDFT, the local organisations that support this group, and how and why the Living Well magazine came about. Explaining the help and support it offers the local residents of Ferndown, West Moors, Wimborne, Corfe Mullen and beyond.
These meetings are held at Parley Place Care Home - Barchester Healthcare who host the meetings and provide refreshments 🍵🍰
Prama facilitate the meetings along with Jan the group leader and volunteers who also help.
