Mai Yoga Mai Yoga in Sanskrit "mai" (मैं) translates to "I" or "me". I help sports people learn about mind and body.

To grow in strength, feel in control and be more connected to self and others. This is Your yoga - to be the best version of yourself, always. Claire has over 30 years experience in sport and mind training. From racing on the international windsurfing circuit she went on to teach. For the past 15 years has been an avid runner, completing half marathons and marathons. When winter comes she enjoys heading out in search of snow for a spot of snowboarding and of course yoga in the mix. Claire has a wealth of experience in what it takes to train the body and brain to thrive in daily life and sport- at any level. With a diploma in Hypnotherapy, Thrive certification (similar to CBT) has also helped many people train their mind - to offer a full mind and body approach, helping people feel strong, in control and empowered. "I help sports people with anxiety and limiting beliefs and anyone who struggles with not feeling good enough, feel more empowered, stronger and in control. Something a bit different for yesterday- I was invited to the local parents group to do some coaching on the way our human brains work relating to self esteem- what it is and how we can boost it to feel the best version of ourselves. A little rainy day guide on helping you with one of my favourite yoga poses - Warrior II

Here we go:

Step your feet wide (about one leg’s length apart).

Turn your front toes forward (toward the short edge of the mat).

Angle your back foot in slightly (about 45–60°).

Heel-to-arch alignment: front heel roughly lines up with the arch of the back foot.

Now...

Bend the front knee until it stacks over the ankle

Press firmly into the outer edge of the back foot to ground the back leg.

Hips and chest face the side of the mat (don't twist forward).

Then..

Stretch arms out at shoulder height, palms facing down.

Relax the shoulders (away from your ears people!)

Engage your core and take your gaze through that front arm

Avoid:

Front knee collapsing inward

Leaning the torso forward - stack shoulders over hips

Now rip that mat apart and make sure you have enough bend in your front leg!
