This week we were delighted to have played a minor role in helping Ford UK get this beautiful Explorer ready for their new Ambassador Sophia Warner - assisted by our friends at Hendy Group in Horsham.

We have previously exhibited at Sophia's Superhero Series which is an excellent event for all participants.

We recently completed this installation for a Motability Scheme customer, who ordered an MG Motor Europe HS from Invicta Motors MG in Croydon.

Today we've handed over this Ford UK Kuga, fitted with Elap K0 Over Ring Wireless Fixed By Interface (Push Brake Not Included) and Push Down Brake with 3 functions.

It's an alternative hand control that is available on the Motability Scheme

That said, we'd always advise customers looking at this control to seek an assessment with Driving Mobility before ordering the control.

Yesterday our senior engineer Mark fitted these adaptations to Motability Scheme customer’s vehicle at Tates Citroen Brighton & Crawley in Portslade.

The customer had a Citroën C5 AIRCROSS with Allied Mobility FeatherDrive Electronic Hand Control System (Push/Pull) and Autochair Mobility in Motion 80Kg 4 Way Transferable Boot Hoist (Smartlifter LC) to enable lifting their mobility device into the boot.

We encounter so many customers that order hand controls, that don’t ever think about a boot hoist, until they NEED one. The pricing on the Motability Scheme is so competitive, with multiple options to suit customer’s needs – so always ask. TIP - You always want to get a hoist before something happens to you or your carer, to mean that you need one.

This week we’ve adapted this Motability Scheme customer’s Mazda UK CX-60 PHEV at Yeomans Mazda

The customer has gone for the Lodgesons 13 Way Remote Control Device in conjunction with the Allied Mobility FeatherDrive Electronic Hand Control System (Push/Rock). These hand controls offer some excellent features, such as a City mode, which enables 50% power for parking. They’re relatively new to the UK market, but have an ever-expanding list of compatible cars.

We’ve just completed this installation for a Motability Scheme customer, who ordered from Birchwood Group in Chichester.

The Kia UK EV3 has proven to be exceptionally popular lately and this vehicle has been fitted with Elap K5 Under Ring By Interface and Push Down Brake with 3 functions. To enable additional leg room, the customer also added a Cowal Mobility Aids LtdL Hinged Accelerator Pedal (Vehicle specific).

The brake has been fitted on the left hand side, which is quite rare. Our Senior Engineer Mark put together this bespoke design to suit the customer’s requirements.

This morning we installed the Jeff Gosling Ltd 150kg 4 Way Transferrable Boot Hoist (Apex Assist) to a Ford UK Grand Tourneo Connect, for a Motability Scheme customer ordering through Hendy Group

The combination of the huge boot offered by the Ford UK and the excellent Jeff Gosling Ltd hoist enable some of the biggest chairs and scooters on the market can be lifted and stored, with next to no strain on the customer or their carers (if applicable).

Another install recently completed at Vertu Ford Bromley on this Ford UK Explorer. The driver has Cowal Mobility Aids Ltd Push/Pull Brake/Accelerator with Indicator Switch and in the boot, we installed a Mobility in Motion 80Kg 4 Way Transferable Boot Hoist (Smartlifter LC).

We get a lot of customers asking about compatibility of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and adaptations, as the Motability Scheme and the wider country switch over to electric. The reality is that whilst there are some small compromises and considerations, the vast majority of adaptations are fully compatible. Always check with your adaptation installer - but it isn't something to worry about.

In almost every case, the customer can have their ideal adaptation and experience the lower costs of a BEV Vs petrol or diesel. Don't forget that Motability Scheme can also fund a home charging point as part of your contract.
