🎆Happy New Year from everyone at Avon Breast Screening! 🎆
Hope everyone has had a lovely break! 🫶
Let's make 2026 the year of health consciousness generally as well as breast/chest awareness. 💪
⏰Just a reminder of the stuff you might find useful to know: ⏰
✔️We recommend you check your chest just once a month (anymore than this and you may not notice the subtle changes).
**FREE TEXT REMINDER: https://coppafeel.org/get-a-reminder/sms-reminders/**
✔️Ideally you check your chest when lying down, standing up and in front of a mirror (as you can see and feel different things in different positions).
✔️Technically it doesn't matter what technique you use to check your chest, but circular motions using rigid, flat fingers over the skin works for us.
✔️When checking your chest you should cover the whole chest including, your breast tissue, the skin between your breast tissue and collar bone and round into your armpits (on both sides).
✔️ Checking your chest doesn't mean only checking for "lumps and bumps" there can also be visual changes to the skin, tissue or ni**le
✔️Anything you don't recognise when checking your chest, please contact your GP who can then assess whether you need to be referred or not.
✔️ If you are aged 50 or over and are registered as female at your GP you should be entitled to a breast screening mammogram every three years (as part of the UK breast screening program) if these parameters don't include you but you feel you should be having a mammogram then contact your GP to discuss this further.
✔️You CAN absolutely have a mammogram once you are over 70 you just have to call us on 01174147070 to request it (every three years).
How many of these did you already know? 🥳
