Huge thanks to everyone who joined forces at the 'Community against Cancer' Event last week at the Vassall Community Hub & to our Matron Siny for representing and shining a light on the Avon Breast Screening team's work! 🌟

With events like these we hope to learn from and inspire other organisations on how to deliver cancer awareness and early diagnosis projects.

At Avon Breast Screening we have been talking all things breast screening and breast awareness at Nailsea School with Dr Vasileios Stamelos MRCGP PhD (GP Partner-Tyntesfield Medical Group-Backwell Medical Centre).

What a great evening with more than 150 women in attendance, all engaged & dedicated to understanding more about the importance of breast screening and breast awareness.

Not only for themselves but many of the questions asked were in relation to passing on the information learnt to their loved ones.

🌈A fantastic event a few weeks ago with Sirona care & health at The Vassal Centre, where we had the opportunity to connect with so many amazing people! Thank you to everyone who came and engaged with us. 🌈

It was great to raise awareness for breast screening and general breast awareness, two incredibly important topics that deserve our attention. It's crucial that we prioritize our health and take proactive steps to stay on top of our wellbeing.

💗HAPPY MOTHERS DAY💗

This Mother’s Day, let’s celebrate those who care for everyone else by reminding them to care for themselves too.

Breast screening saves around 1300 lives every year in the UK. Women aged 50–71 are eligible and invited for regular screening every 3 years via the NHS Breast Screening Programme. These quick appointments can help detect breast cancer early — often before symptoms appear.

If you receive your screening invitation, please attend. And if you know anyone in this age group, please gently encourage them to go along to their appointment.

Early detection can make all the difference. This Mother’s Day, the best gift we can give is a reminder that their health matters too. 🎉
