UPDATE:
Weight Loss Injections - Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) – What’s Happening Locally?

You might have heard that a new medication called tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) has been approved by the NHS to help with weight loss for some people living with obesity.

Although national guidance now supports its use as part of a weight management programme, most GP surgeries – including ours – aren’t yet able to prescribe it.

This is because local NHS services are still working on the right setup and support needed to safely offer this treatment.

We know this may be frustrating if you were hoping to try it, and we really appreciate your patience. We’ll share any updates as soon as things change.

In the meantime, please don’t contact the GP practice for a prescription as we won’t be able to do it.

You can find a statement from Bath, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) Integrated Care Board (ICB) about this matter here: https://bsw.icb.nhs.uk/information-for-patients-on-availability-of-new-weight-loss-treatment/

Thank you

From Monday 23 June, a new weight loss drug called tirzepatide, sometimes referred to as Mounjaro®, will start becoming available for use in primary care settings. In line with NHS…

Important notice for patients using weight loss medications and taking the pill or HRT

Many patients are now using weight loss medications like Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) or Semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) — either for diabetes or privately for weight loss.
These medications work partly by slowing down how your stomach empties — which can affect how well other medicines (like the contraceptive pill or HRT tablets) are absorbed by your body.

Important information about pathology test results
A recent update to the pathology reporting system across the region has led to some temporary delays in the way test results are shared with GP practices.

We are actively working with partners across the system to identify and resolve any affected areas. Most issues have now been addressed, and work is ongoing to ensure any remaining problems are resolved as quickly as possible.

Please be assured that your care remains our priority, and steps are being taken to minimise any impact on your treatment. If you have concerns about recent test results, please speak to your GP practice.
