Job Opportunity

Service Manager & Plant Fitter

Based from our Westbury & Devizes yards this role will involve:

Management of our plant and vehicles to include servicing, diagnostics, proactive and reactive maintenance.

Upkeep of Servicing, PUWER & LOLER registers.

Booking of specialist sub-contractors.

Stocking of spare parts and equipment

A company service vehicle will be provided.

Previous experience working with hydraulic plant is essential, drilling or piling rigs would be considered very advantageous.

A flexible approach to working hours to ensure we keep things running smoothly is essential.

A driving license with 6 point or less is a mandatory requirement along with formal qualifications.

The package includes 23 days per year holiday plus bank holidays along with private medical cover.

£35,000 - £45,000 pa

Job Opportunity

Driver & Yard Operative

Based from our Westbury yard this role will involve:
The mobilisation of equipment using a 4x4 and trailer across the UK.

Yard duties to include the loading of stores, cleaning of plant and equipment, general yard maintenance and receipt of deliveries.
The willingness to assist on site covering sickness and holiday, will be required.

Occasional overnights in a pre-paid hotel may be required. A £25 overnight allowance is provided for any nights away.

This role will involve early starts, ~0500hrs on mobilisation days, please only apply if you have a functioning alarm clock!

All applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening along with random periodic screening.

Friday evening saw a couple of our team swapping overalls for black tie, attending the annual British Drilling Association Gala & Awards night in Liverpool.

We are very pleased to have won “Land Drilling Industry Contractor of the year” along with “Equipment Innovation”, for the development of our multi-purpose drilling mast!

These awards are a credit to the hard works of both our site teams and those supporting them in the office, ensuring Marshall Drilling are above the competition, below ground!

October and early November have seen our teams working the length of the British Isles, with crew 11 even returning to Jersey for a 5 week project.

We have added 2 new 188-14 compressors to our fleet, both mounted on tracked dumpers for long term hires, along with a 2600 gallon tanker for the supply of water to rigs and for soakage testing.

Our fleet now includes 6 low ground pressure rotary setups, keeping up with high demand in the energy and renewables sector, along with support plant including our cat 309 low ground pressure excavator.

It’s looking to be a record end to the year, with work booked well into 2025, a credit to the high standard of work delivered by our site staff.

It’s been a very busy August, with crews working across the country on a variety of projects, varying from small scale ground investigations through to spill response and overhead line projects.

With sites from Gretna to Totnes, Glynneath to Ipswich, and most places in between, we’ve certainly proven our nationwide coverage!

Last week we met with to take delivery of the latest addition to our fleet, DR11, our new Comacchio GEO305.

The rig has had a number of modifications to allow it to access sites with poor ground conditions and sloping terrain, these include low ground pressure tracks and a 10 ton winch.

This rig is fitted with state of the art features including:

Stage V ultra low emission engine
Short Mast - 2.4m stroke, allowing for drilling below overhead power lines.
5000kg feed and retract
8 gear, 540rpm / 630 daNm head
10 ton hydraulic jacks
Automatic SPT hammer
200lpm triplex mud pump
Air- mist pump
Pressure washer, wash down kit
Extended guarding
2000kg service winch
800kg wireline winch
Oversized 300mm clamps
Onboard tooling carriers
Low ground pressure track base

Marshall Drilling were delighted to win the Award for Equipment Innovation at last night’s Ground Engineering Awards for our Multi-purpose Rotary Drilling Mast!

A first of its kind, the multi-purpose rotary mast features 360 degree drilling options, the ability to fit to any excavator in as little as 20 minutes along with full remote control operation.

The mast was designed and built in conjunction with to our exacting specifications, providing a standalone mast suitable for a variety of ground investigations scenarios.

Congratulations to all of the other finalists and winners at the awards, it was fantastic to catch up with friends, customers and colleagues, both old and new! Well done everyone!

It’s been plain sailing for Rhys & Jeremy in Ventnor this week...

Crew 10 have returned to the Isle of Wight for a long term client, drilling 35m deep boreholes utilising geobor-s water flush.

Upon completion, the boreholes will be installed with inclinometers to monitor movement in the sea wall, caused by an active land slip on site.

Three of our crews were busy on the M5 last week, completing night works in traffic management.

To achieve the scope on this project we provided 2 x Comacchio 205s, sampling and coring 6 locations to 10m, before installing inclinometers and extensiometers.

In addition to the rotary scope of work, we completed a number of windowless sample boreholes on the slope utilising our excavator platform attachment. This platform is great for slope working, with a reach of up to 18m, there aren’t many positions it can’t reach!
