Cat started practising Pilates after suffering from a spinal injury eight years ago. From that moment she knew that she wanted to show people how beneficial Pilates could be, not only as a means of rehabilitation, but also for everyday life. She believes strongly that the development of deeper body awareness using the Pilates method can lead to overall health and wellbeing. Having spent her childhood playing all sorts of sport and enjoying anything that meant she didn’t have to sit still, the obvious next step for Cat was to become a Pilates instructor. She went on to train with the Pilates Foundation in London, where she taught matwork classes and developed her work with individual clients and smaller groups.

NB. I am to bad at taking any photos when teaching. I’m aware there is very little ACTUAL Pilates going on in these photos 😂. I’ll try to do better this year 🫣

This last year has been transformational, for me, for my hair, for the studio & for our clients. Teaching teachers has come much sooner than I thought it would in my career and yet it couldn’t be better timing.

The last year I’ve worked with an amazing bunch of women, guiding them to become Pilates Matwork teachers. They were all clients previously who took an interest in the method, and on top of wanting to learn more, knew that one day they’d like to step into to the world of teaching Pilates.

On the flip side of that our clients have welcomed them into their observation and assisting hours, welcoming the extra eyes, and also understanding more for themselves. So a huge thank you to those clients and to the teachers for mentoring this crew through their training (including 🤗)

A further side is the support, experience and knowledge of my mentors Hana Jones (who has zero online presence but a real legend in the Pilates world in the UK in my eyes) and Sasha Caddell (my ride or die Pilates pal) as well as the Board and teachers at the

So, as my first round of trainees (I like to think of them as apprentices!) move into their assessments, I wish them all the love and luck in the world. They’re so ready! And I AM SO READY TOO 🤩

If you’re considering becoming a Pilates Teacher, please do get in touch. I’ll take a bit of time to process this first round, but am beginning to look towards the future and the next Pilates Matwork training for

I’ve been wanting to do this for over 10 years and when recommended this course by at Kings College I had to book it.

The whole experience is incredible. Thank you to those who donated their bodies to science so we can explore and understand the body in more detail.

As much as everything blew my mind, the key things that helped me understand the body further are:

🫁 Getting to feel the texture of the diaphragm & pelvic floor. How thin but fibrous they are

🦵🏽The psoas major and just how anteriorally that comes through the pelvis

🦴Thoracco-lumbar fascia - seeing the direction of the fibres of this almost bone like structure from the anterior side of the PSIS

🌍And just how everything is a whole

Gawd so many other things I could bore you with - everyone should go do this course!

What a blimmin’ legend! Can we all just be more Jean.

My trainee teachers adopted the motto “Be More Jean” quite early on in their training, after being blown away by 87 year old Jeans capabilities in class.

During their observation hours it became apparent that she not only had mobility in her body, but strength too. Jean started Pilates around 10 years ago and started with me when we moved to Westgate (3 years ago).

Her favourite exercises are The Roll Over and Rolling Like A Ball. She’s a dab hand at a push up too!

We surprised her with her own slogan tshirt at the last training weekend - to which she was most overwhelmed, she finds it perfectly normal to be rolling around on the floor at 87 which I LOVE!

As Jean says, if you don’t lose it, you’ll lose it! 💪🏼

This year marks my 10th year of teaching Pilates and about 18 years of practicing it.

It marks 8 years of , 3 years in our home in Westgate, 2 studio locations in Margate prior to that, and multiple studios, halls and kitchen floors I have taught on over the years (thank you too all I have worked with).

2025 also marks the first year of me running my own teacher training course with The Pilates Foundation…. and the first time I’ve grown my hair past my ears since about 2008.

Here’s a little round up of photos old and new, and there’ll be more to come on what to expect from our teacher training and apprenticeship course.

I BLOODY LOVE MY JOB 😻😻😻😻

Knee-hab has mainly looked like this….

My husband has been a skateboarder longer than I’ve been alive. Luckily without major injury until a freak moment that fully ruptured his ACL. Ouch!!

The next year is dedicated to getting him back to strength and back on that board 🛹🎯 he’s doing all the physio exercises, ice-ing, legs up the wall… all without my even having to say a thing AND is a Pilates convert 😜 at long last!

THE PELVIC BOWL 🩷🧡

Ever since Cat introduced Charlie to the concept of the pelvis as a ‘bowl’, the notion of making a ceramic ‘Pelvic Bowl’ as a powerful, beautiful object for honouring the body has been waiting to bloom. Having worked together for many years, we have combined our knowledge of the body, ceremonial objects and self reflection to hone an offering that we think you will love.

Through somatic movement, guided meditation sessions and journal prompts, you will embark on a journey to tap into the wisdom of your body.

You will then have the opportunity to channel your new found awareness and creative energy into hand building ceramics. You will craft a ceramic bowl that reflects your personal journey of self-discovery.

Join us on this empowering exploration of body, mind, and clay as we embark on a journey of self-connection and creative expression.

The irony of the photo is not lost on me. And this gift from a client was spot on 👌🏽 she knows me well.

Have had a wonderful couple of weeks of travelling and seeing friends and family. I always find time out inspiring and am so excited for the next chapter for the studio. The next week is about working on that, getting in the studio myself and I cannot wait to see my clients on the other side. 💪🏽🤸🏼‍♀️

Hope you’re all having a slow summer somehow 🐢 and see you soon 👋🏼

Our Story

I started Proudfoot Pilates as my initial business name, but this has since evolved. I work with my business partner Neil running Margate Pilates Studio. This has become much more a document of my interests and how Pilates has helped me and my body.

Message me on either account and I’ll come back to you asap.
