THE 👏🏾 DUE 👏🏾 DATE 👏🏾 IS 👏🏾 A 👏🏾 LIE 👏🏾
🤯

There is NO SINGLE DATE when your baby is likely to appear.

And so-called “health” “care” “PROFESSIONALS” that keep perpetuating this lie HAVE BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS!!!

FFS 😒

So. How many of you can shout “HOUSE”?

What kind of sh*te has been said to you as you waited?? 🤬

Posted • Who's approaching the 40 week mark?

The man-made expiry date for pregnancy?

The date that you go from being a "glowing" vessel for baby to a "danger" to yourself and your baby.

Here are the common saying you can expect from everyone you meet.

The flick of the calendar into the 40th week and you'll be bombarded with questions that sound like your body is defective."when are they bringing you in?", "How long are they letting you go over?"

Completely forgetting the "due date" is total bu****it anyway.

Some of the "advice" you're offered is f**king stupid when you actually sit and read/reread it.

You can understand a lot about our culture when you do something that is considered "outside" of normal. (Even though about 60-80% of babies are born after 40+0 if you ignore the data on sweeps, induction and elective caesarian - it still is considered not normal) 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you intend to be or are pregnant, the maternity services OBSESSION with induction of labour right now IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE TO YOUR HEALTH AND THAT OF YOUR BABIES.

Yes your loved ones and society have bought into the lie of the due date but it’s only you and your baby whose health will suffer from believing this lie.

This incredible book of Dr Sara Wickham will help you stand strong for your best possible birth.

Posted • Our culture has really embraced the idea of due dates.

We accept that they are a ‘thing’ even though they are totally man made, as I discuss in my new book, In Your Own Time: how western medicine controls the start of labour and why this needs to stop.

We allow due dates to dictate many of our actions, thoughts, conventions and conversations around pregnancy.

But many women and families will tell you that they and everything that goes along with them can be a source of considerable stress.

It’s really disheartening to know your due date but to have a professional (or, worse, a machine) insist on changing it.

It’s immensely stressful to have to fight to not have an induction when you KNOW your baby isn’t ready to be born.

As I wrote in In Your Own Time:

“Assigning a due date, allowing a machine to change it and then using that date to determine the end point of pregnancy sends a very clear message.

It conveys the idea than medical science knows more about when a baby should be born than either the baby herself or the woman whose body has created, grown and nourished her baby.”

But, when you look closely at what we know about the length of pregnancy, you find something rather curious.

You find that it isn’t based on good evidence.

In fact, you find – as I have done over the two decades that I have been researching this area - that, “the policy of induction at a certain point in pregnancy is largely based on fear, tradition, fashion and some outdated, misogynistic ideas rather than sound evidence.”

Research shows that you create new neural pathways in learning new things, experiences and beliefs. Childbirth has been portrayed in a very unrealistic way on TV programmes and films. Mindset around birth is quite negative. If you’re pregnant this is something you need to change now!
Birth is the most important day of your life (more important than your wedding day) it is the day you will remember for the rest of your life. My late 89 year grandmother was proof of this, I loved hearing her birth stories 🫶

Visualisation is a powerful tool in leading upto and during your birth. Can you really visualise and create your birth? Not so simple as you need to do a lot more practise and gain knowledge to be fully prepared BUT it is possible to vision your perfect birth and have your eyes set on that.
The other work is actually learning about birth and how to advocate for yourself in the maternity care system because YOU WILL have desicions to make during childbirth that can make or change the way your birth goes so this is highly important too!

My first two births were so quick and intense that I skipped early labour (or didn’t realise I was in early labour?!). I visualised, with my third, how early labour would look, how it would feel. Wow I got exactly what I wanted and what I visualised! It was wonderful. I definitely believe in the power of visualisation and manifestation.

If you are interested in learning about birth and have so many burning questions about the process, how does it feel? What happens? How will I cope?
Then please send me a message where I can recommend which course is right for you ✨

This is very relatable to birth And hypnobirthing in particular, reprogram the way you think of birth! How can you do this? Well first of all we learn this on the full hypnobirthing antenatal course but read this to gain some insight ✨

5 Ways To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind:

1. Filter your thoughts.

Changing the contents of your mind is the first step toward a new life.

Keep an eye on your mind,

and never let low vibrational thoughts (guilt, shame, fear, doubt, self-hate, judgment) pollute it.

2. Gain clarity

Life is meaningless without a sense of direction and purpose.

Reconnecting with your inner guide will provide you with the clarity needed to make life-altering decisions.
...
• Less screen time
• Write to get clear
• Do one thing at a time
• Write a journal

3. Visualize.

The subconscious's creative force is imagination.

Spend about 10-15 minutes simulating your desired reality.

Engage all of your senses and live in the moment.
Do this both before and after going to bed.

Surrender your worries, and your subconscious will immediately begin working to make that reality a reality.

4. Keep a high vibe company.

Every human interaction is an exchange of energy.

Spend time with people who make you feel alive.

Believe in your body's reaction to other people's energy.

Keep your distance if something doesn't feel right.

5. Spend time in silence.

Silence forces you to confront your thoughts - running away from your emotions only serves to bury them deep within.

Instead, feel your emotions, then remain detached and allow them to pass through you.
You'll develop more emotional stability as a result, and your willpower and discipline will become more consistent.

Did you know that you probably fear birth even if you say ‘It’s ok, I am going with the flow, what will be will be ‘.
That way of thinking is because you’ve been made to believe birth is out of your control and in the hands of others. You’ve spent years watching films of women rushing to hospital and giving birth in a very medicalised and dramatic way.

Then there are the negative stories and comments we are told and without realising it, you are already programmed to view birth in a very different way to the way it really is and can be.

So how do you change your view on birth?

🪶Start to watch positive birth videos of women birthing their babies in nature, their home, on the hands and knees and to big babies, breech babies and so on - watch them all and see how birth works

🪶Let people know you do not want to hear negative birth stories - these are for people who are NOT pregnant and it’s harmful for pregnant women to hear this - make it clear you only want positivity surrounding you when it comes to birthing your baby

🪶Research birth and birth physiology (this is something we cover in the hypnobirthing antenatal course) and see how birth really works. What’s actually happening and be amazed!

🪶Listen to relaxation or meditation audios that are pregnancy and birth related. These will help your brain to start building a much more positive and confident outlook in birth (audios are also part of the course I provide)

🪶Practise, Practise and Practise.
Practise positive language towards birth, start to talk about it in a more positive light, listen to your audios daily, watch videos daily and start to fall in love with birth

You can have the birth you want!

It takes time and it takes practise but it’s worth it 🫶

02/06/2023

Baby is born and you snuggle them into your chest and the sweet smell of your newborn increases your happy hormones (oxytocin). The smell is addictive, you can’t believe what you’ve just experienced and you and your partner are in awe of your new bundle of joy. All is calm and wonderful. This moment of pause is beautiful but then suddenly surges start again and you forgot that your placenta is yet to be delivered. Surges are stimulated by the love hormone ‘oxytocin’ and these surges combined with oxytocin help to birth your placenta.
Birthing your placenta is called ‘physiological third stage of labour’ and there are benefits to this. However you will also be offered third stage management which is another option, this is where synthetic oxytocin is injected into the leg to help bring on the surges to expel your placenta, this also helps to stop blood loss. This can be useful if you’re not producing enough oxytocin to deliver the placenta. We cover all these topics (and more) in the hypnobirthing antenatal course

A Monday myth for birth

Birth on the television is often depicted as an emergency and you see everyone rushing off as soon as the waters break (and they break rather dramatically) and they rush off to hospital and get on the bed and all the medics run in.

Please let’s change the way we view birth, start watching ‘positive birth videos’ whether vaginal birth or cesarean, all births can be wonderful especially when you’ve done the deep mindset work towards it, you’re educated on birth, you know your choices and you plan for all eventualities

This lovely couple came to me without feeling they had much support on the lead up to their birth. They were a pleasure to teach.
They were clear on the birth they wanted and despite all the obstacles and pressure for induction of labour they had their baby healthy and naturally which is what they wanted and they really didn’t have it easy on the lead up with various obstacles.

I do not make the decisions for my couples, I just give the information and facts and how to make your own informed decisions. Hypnobirthing is not about a non medicated and natural birth but if that is something you want then there is nothing stopping you - apart from maybe fear , deep rooted beliefs or lack of knowledge which is what this course supports you in. We also teach how to plan for all eventualities which is also important to keep you part of the decision making in your birth ✨

Thank you for my lovely review ✨ I love pregnancy massage, it is such a special time for mums to be and that much needed time out can be really beneficial. It can help to reduce puffiness and swelling, soothe aches and pains and any digestive issues.

Massage is safe from 12 weeks. I’ve trained many times in pregnancy massage first with ESPA then Elemis and again through independent training and I offer reflexology which is fantastic during pregnancy too. I’m also a fully qualified and experienced hypnobirthing antenatal instructor.

This ✨🫶✨🫶✨🫶 this poem is from the soul midwifery book & speaks on many levels. I see birth and death as very similar passages into and out of this world.
I held my Nans hand as she slowly slipped away, we sang her favourite songs, kept her comfortable, we told her how amazing she was and all the happy memories she has given us. We told her she was safe and she was loved and I gave her some facial reflexology.
Birth and death are both sacred journeys. In birth we do similar, we play relaxing music, have the people we love with us and supporting us, we want to feel safe and we need to feel loved and nurtured. Positive language in the room is important too.

I just wanted to share this with you from my heart. Eventually I know I will be a soul midwife. I want to be there for people at times when it’s the most important 🫶
