It comes from people who are organised, experienced, and genuinely care about the standard of support they provide every day.

At our small, family-run care home in Weston-super-Mare, we believe the little things matter — knowing residents as individuals, supporting each other as a team, and taking pride in the quality of care we deliver.

Because of this, we’re quietly looking for an experienced Senior Carer to join our team.

We’re proud of the standards we maintain in our home, so this role would suit someone who takes real ownership of their shift and enjoys making sure things run smoothly.

This role would suit someone who:

• Holds NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or higher)
• Takes pride in delivering high-quality, person-centred care
• Is confident supporting and guiding other team members
• Understands the importance of dignity, kindness and consistency in care
• Is organised, reliable and able to lead by example on shift

You might already be working as a Senior Carer and looking for somewhere with a supportive team and strong standards…
Or you may be an experienced carer ready to take the next step in your career.

Either way, we believe the right person isn’t just qualified — they genuinely care about the difference they make each day.

At our small, family-run care home in Weston-super-Mare, food is a big part of our residents’ day. A warm lunch, a favourite pudding, a familiar meal — these moments mean more than people realise.

As we move to serving meals from apetito, this role isn’t about being a professional chef or cooking from scratch all day.

Instead, it’s about:

• Preparing and serving meals with care
• Keeping the kitchen organised, clean and safe
• Being part of a small, supportive team

We think the right person might be someone who:
• Enjoys cooking but doesn’t want the stress of restaurant kitchens
• Takes pride in keeping things clean and organised
• Wants a job that actually feels rewarding

You might currently work in hospitality, a school kitchen, a café…
Or maybe you’ve stepped away from work and are looking for something meaningful to come back to.

Kitchen or care experience is helpful, but personality matters more to us.

📍 Based in Weston-super-Mare
⏰ Approximately 28–30 hours per week

Today we welcomed Apetito to St. Agnes Retirement Home for a special food tasting session, and what a lovely experience it was!

Apetito are a specialist meal provider who work with care homes across the UK, creating nutritious, well-balanced meals that are designed specifically for older adults. Their meals focus on great taste, good nutrition, and options that cater to different dietary needs.

Our residents were treated to a full lunch service followed by a delicious dessert, all prepared and served by the Apetito team. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the food and sharing their thoughts, and we’ve already received lots of positive feedback from residents and staff alike.

A big thank you to the Apetito team for visiting us and giving everyone the opportunity to try something a little different – it was a really enjoyable afternoon for all involved.

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day 💜

At St. Agnes Retirement Home we are surrounded by so many incredible women every day. From our wonderful residents who have lived through decades of history, strength and change, to our hardworking staff who give their time, care and compassion to others, and the daughters, sisters, mothers and friends who visit and support their loved ones.

Today is a reminder to celebrate the resilience, kindness and wisdom that women bring into our lives. Our residents carry stories, experiences and lessons that have shaped families and communities, and it is a privilege for us to hear them and care for them.

To all the amazing women in our home and beyond — thank you for the love, strength and warmth you bring every day. 💐

I’m looking for recommendations for animal groups that visit care homes to provide sensory experiences (for example, therapy animals or small pet encounters).
If you know of any local groups or organisations that do this, I’d love to hear about them. Thanks so much!
