Broadway Lodge

Broadway Lodge Compassion infused, person centred, abstinence-based residential treatment centre for addiction. Transforming lives since 1974.

Addiction is an illness, not a choice. But the good news is that with the right support, addiction is treatable. As the UK’s most experienced abstinence-based rehabilitation centre, we understand addiction and how to treat it. We’re here to work with clients so they can live happy and fulfilling lives. We can help people who have an addiction to:

• Alcohol
• Illicit drugs
• Prescription drugs
• Gambling
• Sex
• Gaming
• Co-dependency

We provide inpatient medically-managed detoxification for people with an addiction to alcohol, opiates, benzodiazepines and prescribed medication. Clients who detox with us are allocated a twin en-suite room in our on-site medical unit which is staffed 24/7 by our specialist nurses. There is a gentle therapeutic programme alongside the detox. Once the detox is completed (if required), clients can immerse themselves into the full, comprehensive therapeutic programme. This is where real change starts to happen. They work with counsellors and their peers to understand their addiction and address the root cause so they can develop healthy coping mechanisms and the tools to sustain their recovery. They will also address other presenting issues and improve their emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing as well as self-worth. We can support people who have dual diagnosis where another condition co-exists alongside their addiction such as anxiety and depression. Please Note:

Sharing your struggles is more than just an emotional release – it’s an act of hope. When you speak openly about what you’re facing, you invite understanding, support and connection. Talking can help you:

🩵 Feel less alone and more understood
🩵 Reduce the sense of shame and isolation
🩵 Gain perspective and clarity about your situation
🩵 Access practical guidance and professional help
🩵 Recovery begins with conversation, and every conversation brings us closer to a world where addiction is met with compassion, not stigma.

When you engage with a service whether it’s a treatment centre or drug and alcohol service, you will be understood by professionals and met by peers where there is identification and you will realise that you are not alone.

The National Lottery Community Fund have confirmed they will fund our in-person recovery support sessions we offer in Weston-super-Mare town centre and we couldn't be more relieved and delighted 🙌

This means we are able to continue to provide this vital service to help more people in North Somerset to personally develop, find connection, build confidence and self-esteem, stay on track with their recovery, get support for challenges, learn about themselves and be empowered to live in a healthy way ✨

This in-person support service is now called: "North Somerset Recovery Community Support Project by Broadway Lodge".

We hold a range of weekly groups to support not only former Broadway Lodge clients, but also people in the community who have experienced addiction, trauma, mental health difficulties or any form of abuse. Our professional, non-judgmental and inclusive weekly groups include:

🌿A women-only wellbeing session which differs each week and focused on the '5 Ways To Wellbeing' (currently every Wednesday)

🌿Mixed-gender wellbeing session that includes auricular acupuncture and a sound bath (currently every Wednesday)

🌿Mixed-gender group therapy sessions led by a counsellor with the addition of help/signposting to services relating to education, training and paid or voluntary work (currently every Thursday)

🌿A NEW men-only group therapy session (currently every Tuesday)

Alcohol Detox at Broadway Lodge. 💚🩵

If you’ve become physically dependent on alcohol, the safest way to stop drinking is to have a medically managed detox, supervised 24/7 by specialist clinicians which is what we offer at Broadway Lodge.

Whilst the thought of detoxification may seem frightening, it needn’t be. Our specialist team of supportive and friendly nurses, many of whom have worked at Broadway Lodge for over 10 or 15 years, will monitor you day and night to ensure you’re both as safe and comfortable as possible.

For more information on life at Broadway Lodge, our website has a host of helpful guides: 💚🩵 https://www.broadwaylodge.org.uk/treatment/alcohol/

You don’t have to face this alone — we’re here for you, every step of the way.

It’s former client Corey’s 18-month sobriety milestone today 🎉 He is pictured here with Markkus, Director of Therapy & Aftercare, very kindly gifting his Scotland rugby shirt, who he played for in various age categories. He signed the shirt and wrote “To all at Broadway Lodge, good luck and thank you” as a special, heartfelt gesture of appreciation 🥲

Corey has been a busy dad, university student and sponsor following his stay at Broadway Lodge. In a delightful recent update, he said:

“I have completed my Level 4 Strength and Conditioning Badge and have started at the Open University studying Sports, Fitness and Management. My aim is hopefully going back into the rugby frame as a Strength and Conditioning Coach. After treatment I also became a sponsor which has been nice as I have always loved the 12 Step programme so to help others has been wonderful.

“Right now I feel extremely happy, whereas before I'd lost a lot of positivity and happiness surrounding myself. I am always present for my daughter as she lives with me full time and we’ve done so much together since I left treatment and she always has my undivided attention. It’s wonderful to see her blossom. Family relationships are brilliant and just being able to get back into the things I've always loved is too, as I lost all interest in it when I was in my addiction.”

Wow, we couldn’t be happier for you Corey 🙌 A huge congratulations on your 18-month soberversary and for all of the great work you are doing, academically and personally 😃✨

A Room Named for Recovery, Compassion, and Hope 💙

Back in September 2024, during our special red carpet reunion celebrating 50 years of Broadway Lodge, we held a charity auction with a truly meaningful prize, the opportunity to name one of our bedrooms.

The winning bidder chose to honour their friend, John Kennedy (pictured), who first came into treatment at Broadway Lodge in 2005.

After completing treatment, John went on to give back to the community, first as a volunteer, and later as a support worker, lifting spirits throughout the house with his witty, bubbly, friendly, and deeply caring nature.

John’s journey is now permanently marked with a plaque outside Bedroom 25, proudly renamed “The Kennedy Room”, located on the ground floor opposite the lift. His words reflect a powerful story of transformation made possible through unconditional love, compassion, and support.

On 22nd October, John returned to Broadway Lodge to see the plaque in place. It was incredibly special to welcome him back.

A heartfelt thank you to the bidder who made this tribute possible, and to John, whose story will continue to inspire everyone who walks our corridors.

Our Story

Transforming Lives Since 1974.

We know it’s not everyone’s idea of a fun trip away. But as the UK’s most experienced abstinence-based addiction treatment centre, we understand addiction and how to treat it. We’re here to work with clients so they can leave with the tools to be able to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Since 1974 our multi-disciplined team have helped to transform the lives of 15,000 people, supporting them in their recovery from addictions to alcohol, illicit and prescription drugs, gambling, s*x and gaming.

As well as treatment primarily for addiction, we can support those who have a dual diagnosis where another condition co-exists alongside their addiction such as an eating disorder, anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
