St Georges are celebrating the life of Carolina with Owls Enlightenment

Carolina has been a part of the St Georges’ family for many years firstly working in the home as part of the care team and then after retirement volunteering. Everyone is welcome to come along for an afternoon with visiting owls, one of Carolina’s real passions and an opportunity to share memories of this wonderful lady over tea and cake.

Please do pass the details on to anyone who has worked with Carolina or knew Carolina and would like to attend. This will take place on Wednesday 25th February at 2.30pm in the St Georges' Cafe.

It was a 🇦🇺 Happy Australia Day 🇦🇺 here at St Georges Nursing Home as residents , staff & our voulenteer Dianne embraced the day. Residents turned their hands to creating some decoupage pinch pots. Armed with a variety of Australian themed materials cut into small squares , wooden pinch pots & glue ….some delightful and creative bowls were created.
As always Head of Housekeeping Jo 🦘& her trusty side kick Tracy 🐨 kangaroo crashed the party with some freshly baked Anzac biscuits which went down a treat with a cuppa….
Monday is our “Savour the Flavours” afternoon which is a firm favourite with residents as they help to create various foods to be enjoyed throughout the home. Head Chef Richard set residents the task of chopping and pickling beetroots. In no time at all the beetroots were chopped and transferred to the jars and pickled while singing along to “Waltzing Matilda” The beetroot will be served on our freshly made salads daily . Helping to prepare various foods to be enjoyed within the home gives residents a real sense of purpose, independence & stimulation as well as sharing memories while socialising .
It was a Marvellous Monday to kick start our week here at St Georges 🇦🇺🦘🐨💙

Good food, good company & the warmth of friendship made for another sensational Saturday filled with those special moments & memories . Today was day one of St Georges Nursing Home joining in with the RSPB Garden Bird Watch. There was a chill in the air but the sun was shining as residents dressed up in their winter warmers for a trip out to Clarence Park.. With such a variety of wildlife at the park it was a ideal location for residents to begin the count & it wasn’t long before the pigeons soon became our best friends .
Resident Stan who has years of experience as a Pigeon Fancier did his calling while scattering the seed and we were very quickly surrounded by a variety of birds …. The wildlife was in abundance at Clarence Park and the friendly Squirrels didnt want to be left out so monkey nuts were offered and tamely taken as they were eaten or squirrelled away by these cheeky little chaps.
As we returned to the home we were greeted by the most beautiful vibrant rainbow ending a morning filled with fresh air and happy memories with a super afternoon to follow. We shall be carrying on with the Bird Watch over the next few days alongside an action packed weekend of variety here at St Georges 🦜🦅🪶🐿️🌳🌈

Wellness can and does come in many different forms to many different people. This week has been filled with Wellness in abundance for residents here at St Georges Nursing Home. A motivational morning with Marie's Fitness Classes blew the cobwebs away today followed by a resident led game of Coits…. This was closely followed by the much loved visit from the Boogie Beat Music and Movement Yatton, Weston and Somerset toddlers who bring endless energy , happiness and pure joy to residents.
Our afternoon was a green fingered one as we ran our Mad Potters indoor gardening activity with a visit from the curious kitten Rolph. 🐾Rolph is only 5 months old and has been visiting St George’s since 9 weeks old with owner Phil. He is a bundle of joy and mischief and his visits bring wellness in abundance for residents . 🐾PAT dog Callie has also paid us a visit with owner Anna , giving some one on one in room companionship. It has been a Wellness Wednesday of wonders today here at St Georges 🐾🪴🪏👧🧒❤️

Tuesday at St Georges Nursing Home means a new day & a new challenge…. 🫟Pop Art🫟 Animal Mosaics .
Pop art is a vibrant art movement from the 1950s-70s which uses a number of different elements to complete. Concentration, hand eye co-ordination & a lot of patience to watch the art work gradually form over time. This can be a challenge, making them a ongoing project for residents to complete at their own pace.
On completion the art work brings a huge sense of achievement for the resident .
One resident also took the challenge of creating their own comic book based on true life events which will be a huge accomplishment & a fabulous read!
Creativity , coffee, cake & great company made for a Triumphant Tuesday here at St Georges 🫟⚡️

Today St Georges Nursing Home we celebrated the life of dear David. David had a smile that simply lit up a room. A family brimming with pure love & devotion for each other which shone through on a daily basis.

Two big passions in life for David were his family & Bristol City Football Club . A avid supporter meant today in memory of David we embraced The Robins. Looking back throughout Bristol City’s history , sharing memories and creating our unique Robins in memory of David. Resident Terry a fellow City fanatic had shared many a conversation at the home with David about the club and both so passionate about their footy and loyalty to The Robins.

Today David was laid to rest so our love and thoughts are with Davids beautiful family ❤️🤍🕊️

Our thoughts today were also with the Beautiful Babara & her wonderful family . The Dancing Queen with the biggest heart 🩵

Rest in peace David & Barbara , your memory lives on. You will never been forgotten ❤️🕊️❤️🕊️❤️

2026 will be a big one for St Georges Nursing Home as we forge forward building new intergenerational connections and continuing to flourish our existing connections.
This week a visit from Priory Community School Academy was as always a fabulous one as the range of ages came together to enjoy a afternoon looking at The Netherlands 🇳🇱 New tastes were experienced with the taste of the Netherlands SnackVerse, a variety of crafts and discussions around travel to the Netherlands , the poulation size and many other topics. Both residents and students enjoyed sharing stories and the vibrant atmosphere was so apparent . Thank you to Priory Community School for coming together with St Georges and building these strong bonds and intergenerational links. Students & teachers faces have now become very familiar to residents & as one residents said “ The students are so respectful & polite” we look forward to seeing you all again in the near future 🇳🇱📚🩵

About St. Georges Nursing Home

At St Georges Nursing Home we strive to provide the highest level of care in a comfortable and safe environment.

The home is purpose built and was completed in 2012. Accommodation is provided over two floors and is furnished to the highest standard.

Our experienced staff take pride in providing our residents with holistic care, taking into account everyone’s individuality and diversity. The combination of committed staff and our purpose built home-from-home, makes us the ideal choice for those seeking care for themselves or a loved one.

When we say home-from-home, we mean it. Our home is based around four households, each with their own kitchen/dining room. We cook together, eat together and play together, meaning that our residents can be as involved in the daily life of the home for as long as they are willing or able to.
