St Georges Care Home is a modern, purpose built home for older people with care needs and we are especially designed to support those living with a dementia. Our household model encourages independence and creates a home from home environment. Each household has its own domestic living dining and open plan kitchen area so people can be fully involved with day to day activities within their home.

🩷🎀 Wear It Pink - Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀🩷

Today St Georges Nursing Home we went pink for our weekly News & Brews while supporting 🎀Breast Cancer Awareness Month🎀

New residents & existing ones came together to enjoy a morning of mingling & forming new friendships while enjoying all things pink over local news & chit chat .

Our afternoon carried on with some pink pampering hand massages & nail painting . Followed by prosecco , strawberries & heartfelt discussions as some residents choose to share how breast cancer has affected them & their loved ones but also the stories of survival & hope 🩷🎀

Thank you to our talented kitchen team as always who proved a variety of pink cakes, biscuits & at the request of residents Blancmange!

It was a perfectly pink way to end our Friday here at St George’s 🩷🧁🎀🩷🥂

It has been a 🪔 Happy Diwali 🪔
this week St Georges Nursing Home.

It was a day of embracing all the beauty of 🌸Diwali 🌸the colours, the patterns and the lights .
The Festival Of Light is always enjoyed by residents & staff here at St Georges as we light up the Courtyard Garden.

Our morning was a motivating one with a visit from Marie's Fitness Classes, followed by the fun & energy of Boogie Beat Music and Movement Yatton, Weston and Somerset who also embraced the beauty of Dawali, with the children helping to rearrange a floor display while making us all smile !

Our afternoon was a creative one as residents helped to make some paper flowers to be displayed with the courtyard Festival Of Light. We learnt all about the festival and the culture surrounding it . Of course things sometimes dont run to plan as we ventured out to enjoy the light display the heavens opened up …. This didn’t put a dampener on the day or evening as residents warmed up with some cozy coffee and chocolate while enjoying the lights in then warmth of St Georges 💡🌺🌸🌼

🌞Project Sunshine 🌞 St Georges Nursing Home

Sometime those special memories and moments are not found in the big things in life but in those small things that we can take for granted. It was one of those moments with one of our lovely residents Bill.
Bill’s safe space is St Georges & outings can be overwhelming for Bill. When chatting with Bill he said how he misses looking at the variety of plants in his own garden & with Bill having a carer as a groundsman gardening was part of his eveyday life. 🪴🪏🧑‍🌾

To ensure Bill wasnt overwhelmend by leaving the home a trip to our local Banwell Garden Centre & Coffee Shop to look at all of the plants & flowers while chatting about Bills previous jobs really brought that passion out in Bill. The trip was a precious one. Something everyday to many of us was something very special to Bill & that is what we are looking to embrace with this project ❤️🌷🌼🌿🌳💚

🎂 Happy Birthday Val 🎂
It was another day to celebrate today here at St Georges Nursing Home as we celebrated with a small & personal birthday lunch for Val. Val was asked how she would like to celebrate her Birthday and her reply was a Fish & Chip lunch from Papa's Weston with close friends …

It was a Singtastic🎤🎶 Saturday here at St Georges Nursing Home today as we all celebrated Fay’s 95th Birthday 🎂
The wine was flowing along with the hips , as the home was filled to the brim with singing , music & friendship. It was a packed house as we had a visit from the lovely Anne Sings and as always it was throughly enjoyed . Thank you to our kitchen team who ensured Fay had her Birthday cake of choice . What a special day for the lovely Fay surrounded by family and friends here at St Georges.

It was a different Friday at St Georges with a community day. This morning there was a trip out to the St Georges Community Centre coffee morning. Residents chatted to the local ladies who attend and it was a great opportunity to hear about all the up and coming events at the centre.

This afternoon Lucy from Trussell came along to St Georges to give a talk to residents about the Weston-super-Mare food bank and the work of the charity. Lucy is the warehouse manager where residents were given a tour last year and she kindly offered to come in and talk to all the residents. This was also an opportunity to give Lucy the donations from Harvest Festival.

After the talk Lucy spent time chatting to residents over a cup of tea. The kitchen team made a lovely variety of cakes to enjoy for afternoon tea which got residents talking about how fortunate they are to have such a variety of quality delicious food. Thank you for all the donations, today's talk really did show just how important the food bank is and St Georges will continue to support this local charity.

Today was a day or remembering and celebrating the life of Richard here St Georges Nursing Home

With a lifetime of memories ranging from winning “Hutton in Bloom” 🌺to being a professional photographer & photographing many Royals including Princess Dianne , Richard really did live life to its fullest.

With his love of gardening and flowers it was very fitting to remember him today by creating a beautiful floral display in memory of this special man 🕊️❤️

Rest in Peace Richard. Your smile & gentleness will be so missed by all at St Georges 🕊️❤️🕊️❤️🕊️

It was SnackVerse Snack box Tuesday today here at St Georges Nursing Home & the Country given was Romania 🇷🇴

Our fabulous Clinical Lead Emily & Care Companion Maria both being Romanian shared a wealth of information & traditional Romanion ornaments & attire with residents throughout yesterday & today.

Maria wore a handcrafted fotă that was over 100 years old & enjoyed some Romanian Hora dancing with residents……

While Emily brought in a beautiful maramă which residents adored & so appreciatedthe opportunity to try this on…. Drinks were drank from a traditional Romanian tea set whilst Emily also shared some of the history behind the ornaments .

And our day didnt stop there as Romaninan snacks were then taken around the home from the Snack Verse snack box….. A clear favourite from the day was the Rom bar & Frutti Fresh .

We shall continue to look more at Romanian history throughout the week 🇷🇴💙💛❤️

This Saturday was an exciting one for residents at St Georges Nursing Home as we launched 🌞☀️Project Sunshine ~ Fuelled by happy thoughts 🌞☀️

Every resident is individual and has their own passions & dreams …. 🌞 Project Sunshine 🌞 will explore these and embrace them giving our residents the opportunity to create some new special moments in time.

Michael , has worked on the railways for many years and is passionate about trains and train-spotting. Michaels face came to life this Saturday morning when he was told about the planned train trip. To see such a reaction was a reminder that this project it is all about capturing those precious moments in life .

Michael has missed traveling on the trains and so on Saturday we made his dream happen by taking him on a train trip. Mike loved talking about the different trains and from which stations he had travelled to and from throughout his life. How he has travelled 1st Class at times & just watching the trains arriving into the station triggered that special spark for Michael.

It was a unforgettable Saturday and a special start to Project Sunshine 🌞🚄🛤️💙

Today was a day for more of those Autumn senses here at St Georges Nursing Home. Our Friday 🗞️News & Brews with added 🍂🐿️Autumn Clues brain games got the minds awakened & thinking of the changing seasons while enjoying news, coffee and cake!
Our afternoon was full of smelling those warming autumn scents as residents made autumn scented bags. Cinnamon, nutmeg , ginger & star anise were just a few of the scents experienced on this fragrant Friday here at St Georges

About St. Georges Nursing Home

At St Georges Nursing Home we strive to provide the highest level of care in a comfortable and safe environment.

The home is purpose built and was completed in 2012. Accommodation is provided over two floors and is furnished to the highest standard.

Our experienced staff take pride in providing our residents with holistic care, taking into account everyone’s individuality and diversity. The combination of committed staff and our purpose built home-from-home, makes us the ideal choice for those seeking care for themselves or a loved one.

When we say home-from-home, we mean it. Our home is based around four households, each with their own kitchen/dining room. We cook together, eat together and play together, meaning that our residents can be as involved in the daily life of the home for as long as they are willing or able to.

We can offer couples either paired single rooms or a shared bedroom with an adjacent private lounge. We find this works particularly well when both partners need care and when partners wish to stay together.
