🦸💙❤️ Happy National Super Hero Day 🦸‍♂️ 💙❤️

Today Intergenerational Week & National Super Hero Day intertwined here St Georges Nursing Home.

Our much loved Boogie Beat Music and Movement Yatton, Weston and Somerset visit meant that the home was filled with Super Hero’s of all ages ! The Boogie Beats Monkey giggles & Lisa ensured that the energy levels were high filling the home with super powers that intergenerational connections create!

From Spider Man to Super Woman it was a case of passing the cape to the next generation & as they say “ a true hero isn't measured by the size of his/her strength, but by the strength of the heart" and our hearts were filled to the brim here at St George’s on this Wondrous Intergenerational Wednesday 💥🦸‍♂️💥🦸💥❤️💙

It has a been a Tuesday filled with musicality here at St Georges Nursing Home Learning & trying new things happens at all ages & today Individual room visits enjoyed experiencing the sounds of the Tibetan Singing Bowl & Kalimba Thumb Piano . The instruments were infectious as residents tinkled the ivories as they sang along to music making it a morning filled with musicality .

Our afternoon was more of a musical gathering as we welcomed back the fantastic The Bleadon Belles . As always the visit had residents singing along while the Bleadon Belles blended their voices seamlessly .

We are on Day 2 of embracing .

The home was alight with happiness , hope and the joy that pregnancy brings and with only 6 weeks to go Jasmine is blossoming .

☀️🌞 Project Sunshine ☀️🌞

Project sunshine is a prime example of person-centered care . Creating those special moments based around each individuals passions & interests.

For a number of years Pearl built up strong friendships, created forever memories & learnt various crafts at Caffle Craft where embroidery comes to life.

Caffle Crafts wasn’t only a place to buy craft items for Pearl but a place where Christmas Dinners were enjoyed together, pancake days shared , longstanding and dear friendships were formed and continued to this day. One of our volunteers Dianne had also first met Pearl many years ago through visits to Caffle & their friendship is still going strong .

The sparkle in Pearls eyes as she walked through the door’s revisiting Caffle Crafts for their open day was priceless. All of those past memories resurfaced and names of some that have not been seen for years were instantly remembered.
Pearl was amazed at how far the technology of sewing machines had come and how much the craft store had grown. Endless conversations over tea and biscuits with friends. Evoking all of those meaningful memories & the wellbeing that reminiscing brings .

Pearl then enjoyed a visit to Papa's Weston. Pearl & her partner were regulars at Papas & Pearl wanted to revisit , not only for the fabulous fish and chips but to also catch up with owner Adam whom she had got to know well over the years .

It was day filled with warmth, friendship & great fish and chips . What more could you ask for 🌞☀️❤️

Today was all about the humble daisy 🌼 here at St Georges Nursing Home.

Both residents and the care team enjoyed time in the garden today making daisy crowns and bracelets while also educating ourselves on the wellbeing links of the daisy.

The humble daisy can support physical health & encourage mental wellbeing while also encouraging those child hood memories of making daisy chains.

Some choose to relax with the serenity and calm that the garden brings while others choose to water the plants and potter about.

What a beautiful spring Saturday here at St George’s 🌼🌸🌺☀️

St George's Day Ale, Cider and Cheese Festival at St Georges 🇬🇬

It was the perfect way to celebrate the patron saint of England with the home adorned in English flags and happiness.

The hospitality team pulled out all the stops with home-made cheese scones, bread and a selection of local cheeses, all enjoyed with the cider from our visit to Rich's Cider yesterday and some British ales.

The music was perfect from Robbie Nostalgia Jones The Memory Music Show including requests from the residents. It was great so many families could join in the fun today, and there were some special moments as loved ones danced together.

News of the festival spread across the region as the home were contacted by BBC Bristol to talk about the event on Claire Carter's afternoon show. What a joy to have the opportunity to talk about the fantastic inaugural St George's Day festival on BBC Radio Bristol.

A St George's Day to remember at St Georges 🇬🇬

With our St George’s Day Cider, Ale & Cheese Festival tomorrow here St Georges Nursing Home today was an eventful one . Residents are at the heart of all we do here at St George’s & of course it was only right that they enjoyed the delights of choosing the ales, ciders & cheese. A trip to Rich's Cider Farm meant a try before you buy as residents were well looked after by staff at the farm shop offering a selection of cider tasting before making the final choices ! Raspberry and Blackberry cider and a vintage apple cider were the residents choices plus some apple cider cheese could not be ignored !

Our afternoon was a men’s trip out to a local brewery to buy some ales & to enjoy a stroll together while sharing memories. We are now well on our way for our St George’s Day Cider & Ale festival tomorrow here at the home.

Come along and enjoy the music, cider , cheese and great company ! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🍺🍎🧀

☕️🫖Tea was up today at St Georges Nursing Home as residents enjoyed the start of our Sensory Haven 2 day activity.

National Tea Day🫖☕️ is just around the corner so a variety of herbal teas were offered throughout the afternoon with various flavours & scents to get the taste buds tingling . A warm cuppa alongside fresh baked homemade biscuits & scones sparked a true taste sensation for residents here at St George’s .

The smells ignited the senses leading to an afternoon of making calming sensory & scented Lavender bags , while the beautiful Lilly of the Valley flowers were also used to heighten those senses .

About St. Georges Nursing Home

At St Georges Nursing Home we strive to provide the highest level of care in a comfortable and safe environment.

The home is purpose built and was completed in 2012. Accommodation is provided over two floors and is furnished to the highest standard.

Our experienced staff take pride in providing our residents with holistic care, taking into account everyone’s individuality and diversity. The combination of committed staff and our purpose built home-from-home, makes us the ideal choice for those seeking care for themselves or a loved one.

When we say home-from-home, we mean it. Our home is based around four households, each with their own kitchen/dining room. We cook together, eat together and play together, meaning that our residents can be as involved in the daily life of the home for as long as they are willing or able to.
