As Mental Health Awareness Week continues, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge a group that often suffers in silence—our dedicated care and support workers, emergency service personnel, and first responders. These individuals regularly face traumatic situations and loss, yet their emotional well-being can often go unnoticed.

This powerful video from Avon Fire and Rescue highlights the importance of supporting those very individuals, many of whom may feel unable to speak up or seek help, despite not having to face their struggles alone. Maybe more poignant for me as my Husband is a firefighter in Avon.

Mental health is just as vital as physical health. Please take care of your own well-being and remain mindful of those around you—sometimes a small gesture of support can make a significant difference.

Well done Tom for spreading your message.

As a registered Mental Health Nurse, I’ve witnessed firsthand the quiet strength it takes to care for your mental health. It’s not a sign of weakness—it’s a powerful act of self-respect. Healing isn’t linear, and there’s no shame in asking for help. Just like we treat physical wounds, our minds deserve compassion, patience, and proper care. You are not alone, and every step you take toward mental well-being is a brave one.

🚨 New office opening soon🚨

We are taking over what use to be the old funeral directors on the boulevard ⚰️. A little spruce up is in progress but will be open for business in the next few weeks 🤞🏼.

🔹🔹Meet Charlene – Founder of Compassionate Home Care🔹🔹

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Compassionate Home Care.

My name is Charlene, and I am the proud founder and owner of Compassionate Home Care (CHC). With over 20 years of experience in the healthcare sector, my journey has been shaped by a deep passion for delivering person-centered care and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

I began my career as a care assistant in local residential homes, where I earned my NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care. My dedication to professional development led me to the University of the West of England, where I graduated with a Honours degree in Mental Health Nursing.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working across a wide range of healthcare settings—including psychiatric hospitals, recovery homes, and specialist community services. My work has involved supporting individuals with both basic and complex needs, and it was through these experiences that I developed a particular passion for working with people living with dementia.

The idea for Compassionate Home Care was born from a growing awareness of a gap in transitional care services. I saw firsthand how many individuals could benefit from the opportunity to leave hospital settings and continue their recovery at home—surrounded by the comfort and familiarity of their own environment. CHC was established to provide that option: high-quality, tailored care delivered with compassion, consistency, and dignity.

I’ve carefully built a small, highly experienced team of carers who share my values and commitment to excellence. At CHC, we believe in the importance of continuity of care—ensuring that clients are supported by familiar, trusted staff. This not only fosters strong relationships but also leads to improved confidence, trust, and overall standards of care.

At Compassionate Home Care, our mission is simple: to help people thrive at home by delivering the kind of care we’d expect for our own loved ones.
