You can tell it's nearly the school holidays when packs of past papers start piling up on our tables! This will be the third set of papers we've prepared for our GCSE students this academic year. The process of seeing and completing full sets of past papers is so important to building confidence and practising exam technique that we provide these at no additional cost for the qualifications we're supporting.

Today marks exactly six months since we opened the doors to our premises on Whitecross Road! Since then, we've welcomed over 50 children on to our site to take part in a variety of enriching activities or to benefit from private tuition. We'd like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us so far!

In the next few weeks, we'll be launching our new Core Learning Packages for home educated learners. These are designed to provide everything needed for a child's maths and/or English learning from year 3 up to GCSE level learners. 12 MORE AMAZING MONTHS TO COME IN 2026!

Now that 2026 has arrived, we're looking forward to our first full year of operation in Whitecross Road. Over the next few months we'll be starting our Saturday Morning Enrichment Club, introducing 'core learning packages' for home education, and preparing our year 11s for the final push towards their GCSE exams. There's no doubt about it, it's going to be an exciting year at the Weston Learning Zone!

🎵 On the eleventh day of Christmas, the Weston Learning Zone celebrates... 🎵

11 STEAM CHALLENGES!

Over the course of our 2025 STEAM Club, we set eleven distinct challenges for children to solve. From parachutes to fishing nets to Christmas trees, these tasks were tackled with enthusiasm by all. As we move into 2026, our STEAM challenges will now be integrated into our new Saturday Morning Enrichment Club, which will give children more freedom to complete activities which are of interest to them.

10 TEDDY BEAR LESSONS IN OUR FRONT WINDOW!

Since we moved into Whitecross Road, our teddy bear class have attended a variety of lessons from across the maths, English, science and geography curricula. At present, they're coming to the end of a unit on the Charles Dickens novel 'A Christmas Carol'. This GCSE English Literature text is actually studied by all of the secondary schools in Weston-super-Mare, as well as our bears.

🎵 On the ninth day of Christmas, the Weston Learning Zone celebrates... 🎵

9 ATTENDEES TO OUR FIRST STUDY SKILLS SESSION!

Back in September we hosted our first ever group study skills session. Our year 11 students were invited to attend, to explore different revision strategies and to plan out their independent study time. Parents were also welcomed at no additional cost, helping to reinforce the messages of the session back home. We had some great feedback afterwards, with students and parents describing the session as 'really helpful' and stating that they were 'glad [we] held it'.

🎵 On the eighth day of Christmas, the Weston Learning Zone celebrates... 🎵

8 YEAR 11S CURRENTLY PREPARING FOR GCSES!

This year we are supporting eight year 11s to prepare for their GCSE exams. Now that the countdown to May has begun, we're getting them ready to sit 50 exams between them, spanning maths, English and the sciences. Weekly homework and regular sets of past papers are provided and marked as a part of our tuition to ensure that each student is in the best place possible as we move closer to the main event!
