Tomorrow is National Sleep Day…sleep deprivation can wreak havoc on your hormones. What's worse is the vicious cycle that occurs. Lack of sleep can cause a hormonal imbalance, but this imbalance can cause further sleep deprivation.

When you understand how foods interact, how your body responds and what your root causes are, a lot can change…

Nobody should be having to live with problems like acid reflux for 15+ years, it’s not something you have to just ‘put up with’.

Book in for a free consultation and let’s get to the root causes behind the symptoms you’re experiencing.

Is anyone else tired of hearing: “Your test results are normal.”

Great, but this doesn’t necessarily mean you feel well.

‘Normal’ lab ranges are based on huge populations, including people who already have symptoms or are unwell and over time, those ranges get wider. So normal doesn’t always mean optimal.

GP testing is designed to diagnose disease, not to look at how well your body is actually functioning.

You can sit in the normal range for years while things like blood sugar control, hormone balance, sleep, stress, and chronic pain quietly impact your health long before a diagnosis is reached.

Optimal health is about more than the absence of illness.

As a Nutritional Therapist, I look at a broader picture - helping you spot patterns early and supporting your body before problems escalate.

If you’re not feeling like yourself despite being told everything is ‘fine, let’s explore what’s really going on.

Book a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your symptoms and whether deeper testing and personalised support could help. https://my.practicebetter.io/ #/5eca2d132a98230728965624/bookings?s=5edb6e682a982306fcaf352b

Have you ever had your blood levels checked? How do you know where to start with fixing any issues or symptoms you’re experiencing, without having them checked?

While you can receive blood testing on the NHS, the results will often come back as ‘normal’ and it will be left at that. They won’t dive any deeper and the case is effectively closed.

As a qualified, registered Nutritional Therapist and Phlebotomist, I am able to conduct blood testing and consult with you on which test will suit your needs and can help you interpret the results.

The service allows you to take control of your health and identify areas for improvement before they become a problem.

Book a free call with me to discuss which test will be suitable to meet your needs. https://www.yumnutrition.org/consultations/phlebotomy-blood-draw-options/

Spring could trigger your asthma symptoms!

So many people welcome the change of season, but as the days warm up, pollen levels rise and people with asthma might find their breathing becomes more difficult, especially if they are sensitive to airborne allergens like tree, grass or w**d pollen.

These seasonal triggers can aggravate the airways and make asthma symptoms worse. There’s a few ways you can support your respiratory health both naturally and nutritionally.

🍎 Eat a nutrient-rich, anti-inflammatory diet - colourful fruits and vegetables are packed full of antioxidants such as vitamin C and E, which help protect the lung tissue and may reduce inflammation.

💧 Stay hydrated - fluids help keep mucus thin and airways clear, which is a big help when allergens are particularly high.

☀️ Get some vitamin D - research has shown that low vitamin D can worsen asthma symptoms, so some safe sun exposure and vitamin D-rich foods such as eggs, oily fish or fortified foods are helpful.

🧘 Plan outdoor time around pollen counts - try to avoid high-pollen counts in the morning and early evening, keep windows closed on high-pollen days and wear sunglasses when outdoors.

💡 Keep up your asthma action plan - continue as normal with prescribed medications.

If you want to take control this spring, get in touch and book a free consultation via my website. I can’t wait to get started!

I see many clients suffering from fatigue and low iron levels. Iron isn’t just important for carrying oxygen around your body, it affects energy, concentration, immunity, and even your mood.

Low iron is more common than you think, especially in women, vegetarians and vegans, people with heavy periods and anyone with digestive issues that affect absorption.

Signs you might be low in iron include:

⚡ Fatigue or feeling constantly drained
🧠 Brain fog or poor concentration
💇‍♀️ Hair thinning or brittle nails
💔 Pale skin or shortness of breath.

By working together, we can identify if low iron is the issue via blood testing, tailor your diet in order to increase iron intake naturally and support your lifestyle to improve absorption and energy.

But don’t just take this happy client’s word for it, get in touch yourself and let’s get started on making some changes.

Migraines can be a terrible experience for anyone unlucky enough to have them.

Here are five foods that may help relieve the symptoms:

✔ Kale: high in magnesium, which supports muscle and nerve function.
✔ Almonds: another food high in magnesium as well as fibre and healthy fats
✔ Dark chocolate: high blood pressure has been linked to migraines, and cocoa has been shown to lower blood pressure
✔ Ginger: either in cooking or in tea, can be effective in reducing headaches
✔ Oily fish: omega-3 fatty acids have been known to reduce the symptoms of migraines

If you are struggling with any symptoms and would like nutritional support, please do book a free 30 minute consultation with me and I would be happy to chat: https://p.bttr.to/2SZ0f0k.

Spring is on the way, which is great news for some, but for others it means watering, itchy eyes, a runny nose and lots of sneezing - that’s right, hay fever season is approaching, and you might not realise it, but your diet could be making your hay fever worse!

While pollen triggers the reaction, the foods you eat and your lifestyle habits can either support your immune system or worsen inflammation, affecting how severe your symptoms feel.

As a Nutritional Therapist, we can work together on a plan to help you:

✔️ Eat immune-supporting foods & nutrients
✔️ Use antihistamine and anti-inflammatory strategies
✔️ Make targeted lifestyle changes for long-term relief.

It’s time to stop masking your symptoms and support your body from the inside out. Drop me a DM to discuss options.

Despite women being twice as likely as men to die within 30 days of a heart attack, heart disease is often still overlooked as a serious women’s health issue.

High blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, smoking and not exercising enough are just some of the issues that can lead to a higher risk of suffering a heart attack, so paying close attention to these is really important, whatever your age.

Women are generally protected from heart disease during their reproductive years because oestrogen levels are high, but oestrogen levels drop after menopause and the risk of heart disease increases.

Fancy taking a deep dive into your medical and family history, sleep, movement and diet and working with me to draw up your own, unique nutrition and wellness plan?

If you feel you need some guidance or help making a change, I offer a 30-minute zoom or telephone discussion to talk through your health goals, and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have regarding the consultation process.
